Sam is off to a great start against the Giants. Everyone who thought the Zach Wilson pick was stupid at the time can pat themselves on the back. Happy to have Aaron Rodgers but he made our front office look a bit smarter when he came here to bail them out. Happy that Darnold is recovering from his experience here.
Agreed. I think that Darnold is going to have a pretty good year, but we can't really judge anything so far given who his opponent is today.
Dude drove his team 99 yards for a TD starting on the one yard line. I think the kid will be allright.
Geno Smith eventually figured it out. If Darnold does the same this year then maybe 5 years from now look for Zach to as well lol.
On Sesame Street they had a segment where one of these things does not look like the others. Zach might just continue to fail as some of us believe he can.
Yeah i dont think he will be anything more than a backup if that. Im not actively rooting against him, but man would it make us look bad if he became a decent starter.
Wow Darnold 13/14 in the 1st half. I cant even imagine a qb doing that for us. Hope I can see something like that tomorrow night.
On the other end of the where are they now file Greg Van Rotten, now a Giant, just got flagged for a penalty. I remember his poor play for the Jets and expect him to be consistent in this play with the Giants.
yeah i remember rooting for him because he was from Long Island, but i believe he was among the worst ranked at his position.
As was posted at the time too it was never Sam vs. Zach as a concept either. It was Sam AND whatever you turned the #2 overall pick into against trying to catch a miracle in Zach Wilson. THAT is what always made it such a shaky proposition at the time with long odds of working out to the Jets long term benefit. Sam was already here, happy to be here, and obviously badly needed help. It would have been nice to have actually gotten him some.
I wish we were playing now instead of tomorrow. I feel left out of opening Sunday, plus it feels like more pressure tomorrow night since we're the only game.
True but he also looked revived as a Panther for a few games before he flamed out hard. Also the Giants are absolute trash. But wouldn't surprise me if Darnold put it together eventually. Good for him if so. He's been away from the Jets long enough that I can be happy for his success without envy for nor doing it here
Spending time with Kyle Shanahan as a coach is a good thing for any young QB trying to figure things out
