Jets Sign UFL Standout, Kohl Levao
    Story by Nick Faria
    • 8h •
The UFL season has come to a close and that means the standouts from each Spring League team now have an opportunity to sign with NFL organizations.

The New York Jets are the latest organization to use the UFL for players.

New York signed offensive lineman Kohl Levao of the San Antonio Brahmas in an announcement made by the UFL social media team themselves. Levao helped lead the Brahmas to the inaugural UFL championship game against the Birmingham Stallions but fell 25-0.

Now, Levao will be able to compete for a potential role on the Jets roster that has made transformational changes to their offensive line.

Levao made the All-UFL team this past season for his ability along the offensive line. He was an eighth-round pick by the Brahmas in the XFL Draft before the XFL and USFL merged for the 2024 season. Levao, 26, played at Hawaii from 2018 to 2021. He stands at 6-foot-5, 324 pounds.

He will be competing with the likes of Max Mitchell, Wes Schweitzer, and Xavier Newman for roles as backups along a Jets offensive line that has gone through a reconstruction with the additions of Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and 11th overall pick Olu Fashanu.

    More information on the signing:

According to James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, Levao is signing a three-year deal with a maximum value of $2.8 million.

Larsen explained that Levao garnered “plenty of NFL interest” and held “multiple” contract offers from NFL teams. However, he signed with the Jets because they offered him a multiyear deal which ended up being, “the biggest contract for any UFL player so far this offseason.”

Jets Are Kicking the Tires on a Worthy Prospect
Levao was on a Brahmas team that went all the way to the UFL championship game this season.

    From The Jets Way:

    David Wyatt-Hupton

Very interesting player as he really did play all over at Hawaii.

    LG - 129 Snaps

    C - 995 snaps

    RG - 105 snaps

    RT - 769 snaps

Allowed 3 sacks over his last three years in Hawaii after struggling as a RT in his first year (6 sacks). Will be an interesting guy to keep an eye on.

He has exclusively played the guard position over the last two years for the Brahmas. According to Pro Football Focus data, Levao has 955 career snaps at left guard and 317 snaps at right guard.

Wow a multi-year deal. This is a little more than the typical flier you'd expect for a UFL, CFL or similar league so maybe his roster odds are actually decent. Like the versatility

Hope he's ready for the jump in competition level because he's definitely going to see some time this year, assuming he makes the roster.

I think 3 year deal is pretty common for UDFAs. Team knows they are likely practice squad or just on the bench all year so they need to time to check them out and let them try to get up to speed. Likely little in guarantees so they can cut bait any time but still control for 3 years.

He's already 26 years old. I hope he doesn't need a year to develop on the PS. I think the Jets must be planning on, or at least hoping that he makes the roster, as he may offer more than Hanson or Latham.

It would be nice to find a diamond in the rough. Or even a piece of dog shit.
