Well, JD absolutely fucked the QB pick, yes, I don't think anyone disagrees with that.

But there were a few guys here (weren't you one of them?), who said to waive Zach just a month ago, because he is worthless, while myself and others asked to be patient and we can get some value. And JD did get that value - a 6th round pick, plus the new team will pay 2.75 out of 5.5 half his salary, saving us 2.75 mil cash and CAP space. So, these who said he was worthless were wrong.

So, we're back to square one at the QB position. Kal El can't play forever at a high level so JD's next big move is to find a viable young QB to sit behind Rodgers for a few years.

Zach was very frustrating for sure but not going to wish ill will

We are due for a break and hoping it comes (again) in this draft.

What a steal for us. I woulda been happy with some athletic tape and a used kicking tee

This is the best thing for both parties. ZW was toast here and everyone , including him, knew it. Hopefully, he will improve but if history is an indicator then call me dubious...even with their HC.

That #2 overall pick has had absolutely incalculable ramifications of the Jets franchise. And will continue to be felt long after Zach's off the team and likely even out of the league.

The only thing I can say would have made it worse to me personally is if Zach was a Jamarcus Russel type that didn't try and was an a-hole. For all his faults I never detected a lack of effort and he did a pretty good job keeping his chin up even though he knew and everyone around him knew it just wasn't happening. That must have been hard on him but he kept trying. I think he's a good kid. But my god what a catastrophic draft pick.

It's not his fault exclusively, but boy did he suck here. Good riddance.

I don't think I said to merely waive him and I also said it was good that Woody tried to increase the value. If you can show me where I said to waive him I would be interested not that you have to.

Buying a share of stock at 2600 and selling it at 10 and then patting yourself on the back for not getting zero--or in this case you patting JD on the back--that doesn't fly with me--it ignores the true loss and tries to make it into a win which it isn't.

In an ideal world Joe Douglas woulda been fired for his selection of Zach Wilson. unfortunately we dont live in an ideal world so we gotta celebrate wins where we can and actually findng someone to trade something, anything for him, at this point is a win

Not saying it was you, I was just asking, because I know quite a few people wanted to release him outright saying he was completely worthless, and I wanted to wait and said we can get some value. And the later turned out to be true. I am sure they will come here to admit they are wrong soon. :)

JD was able to get similar value as for Jones and Fields, and Zach wasn't worthless and shouldn't have been waived, that was my point not that JD has done well overall on Zach.

Vernon Gholston is the worst pick ever, picked at overall #6 and only played for 3 years with the Jets, I do not think any other draft pick busts can top that

It's a 6th round pick, it wasn't a terrible move for them. They think they can get someone better with a 6th rounder? But, it's their problem now. I'd say paying Russ 40 mil to play for Pitts may be a bigger issue...
