That Mooney overpay contract is beyond terrible. By far the worst move I've seen a GM make so far imo.
I gotta laugh at the outrage towards Mooney's contract here. He's younger, faster and much better than Allen Lazard and got a very similar contract. But its awful when Lazard's was praised last offseason
No, you don't sound nuts. I heard Douglas praising Lazard over and over at the end of last year. Douglas will not admit the bad signing, and may want Lazard to have a significant role in 2024 because he gave him so much green.
Well, that is THIS year's Lazard signing At least JD was having his hand forced in that one though. NFC what Atlanta's GM is thinking there.
Tyrod Taylor is a washed game manager. The guy plays scared and hates being hit. When he is hit he often ends up on IR, and is turning 35, so again we'll need a solid #3. The only thing he was good at last year were screens to Barkley. There is no point going all in if this is our QB room. When Rodgers goes down the season is over. Even Mac Jones or Sam Darnold would have been a much better option. And we're giving him 2 years and up to 18 million (wanna bet most of that will count against next year). The Giants paid him 5 million and he was a year younger. Even Brissett, arguable the best backup option left, is only getting up to 8 million. This makes it official, stick a fork in the season. We're a dog and pony show that's not going to the postseason.
Test EDIT: Yup, it's broken. I wonder why. EDIT 2: Apparently there's a really easy change that can be made to the board code that would fix it temporarily until the next version of the message board software is released (and fixes it permanetly) ... https://xenforo.com/community/threads/twitter.216502/ https://xenforo.com/community/threads/twitter-bbcodemediasite-missing-x-com-in-match_urls.216620/
interesting point…its like JD values measurable and potential (i.e. they had the skillset to be a first round pick) over actual performance
Yeah, but Brown to me seems like a guy with speed but he’s never really broken out and done much of anything…all bite no bark to me…hard pass if he’s expensive
Jets signed a DT named Leki Fotu. Never even heard his name. By his size, sounds like he's an Al Woods replacement. Probably need another DT for the rotation still. Maybe they bring back Jefferson https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/leki-fotu/6849 Jets agreed to terms with DT Leki Fotu, formerly of the Cardinals. The former fourth-round pick is coming off his best year as a Cardinal, notching 2.5 sacks and five TFLs in just 11 games, nine of which were starts. Both marks were career highs for the big man despite him missing six games. Fotu will serve as a rotational player and a depth piece for the Jets’ defensive line in 2024.
I think once the base contract details are released it'll be much more in line with what he's made recently, probably somewhere in that 5-6M range per year. The "up to 18M" stuff is for agents to inflate the contract to make themselves and their client look better. I think he's a very solid back up, I do agree with the injury concerns so I imagine they'll spend a Day 3 pick on a developmental QB but looking at his EPA and CPOE, he was one of the more efficient QBs in the league last year. I think the Jets could've done a lot worse at backup QB.
