The Jets were such idiots - all they needed to do was say "Darnold isn't the answer we need to play X or Y to see what they have" to guarantee the flop
Any HC who openly says he's pulling a Terry Malloy and throwing a fight shouldn't be anywhere near coaching. I don't think Coach Saleh would ever do so anyway, but the fact that he said the team won't tank the rest of the season is damning in this regard: I have to cajole the team to eat their vegetables or no TV like they're five years old. Am I the only one who gleaned that from that statement? More like he has to quell their temptation to mail it in seeing as the season is in the toilet.
Ehhh...I get where you're coming from but I personally didn't take it that way. He made a very simple statement that can be taken at face value.
Why not, Coach? I mean, you might as well go through with the tank. After all, you did tank away the entire middle of the season.
High praise before high performance has been his trademark ever since he came here. This is something that doesn't work in the NFL. How do you kiss someone's ass before they do anything, then chastise them when they screw you the following week? Saleh = Soft.
There's a fine line between being a people pleaser and a disciplinarian. Tom Coughlin was an insufferable inflexible prick but his retired players have two SB rings to thank him for. Even Strahan was complaining and throwing him publicly under the bus leading up to the first time the Giants best the Cheats, and Jeremy Shockey should've just been executed for his over-inflated view of his actual worth on the field. "If it wasn't for me, this team would've went nowhere (on the side-line on crutches)!" Anyway, I hate the Giants, but somewhere between Saleh and Coughlin is the ticket
Sad thing is they really are trying to win. They just suck at it. There’s no way we win next week, tonight we have Flacco so this is his payback win
I'm so sick of the butt kissing when our team is a mess. I long for the days of Parcells when everyone, even the stars, had to earn it every week. We need less "positive vibes only" and more, "potential means you haven't done anything", and "don't put him in Canton yet", for having one good game. Its a long season and you have to keep the edge the entire way. A good football team is a group of tough men dedicated to working hard for a championship, not a group of soft rich guys who constantly need positive reinforcement to cross the finish line. Mental toughness is as important as physical toughness. Success isn't awarded its earned and everything should be earned on this team. Every dollar should be earned. Starting is a privilege paid for with dedication and hard work.
Three straight double digit losing seasons. First time in franchise history, but their jobs are safe. WTF?
I don’t dismiss Saleh as a good CEO coach. Hackett was result of the organization trying to get Rodgers, in order to make up for the whiff on what was a three first round pick value on Wilson. Unforced desperation. But at this point clean house with exception of Boyer. And mandate the new GM not “ tear down”, keep Boyer, and re-sign Zeurlein, Morstead; Hardee and maybe even Ashtyn he’s good at specials. Have one unit locked up. With good coaching, and re-signing Huff, the D should also be in good shape also. Another reason to can JD.
Jets are the 2nd most penalized team during Saleh's tenure. But don't worry... we're leading the league in penalties this season.
Because Kal EL gave them all a vote of confidence on TV and convinced Woody that he alone can fix all the Jets' issues on offense. Probably mentioned the word "consistency" and Woody used that to justify the defacto extension.
Our new owner probably dictated that (as Cman said immediately before me…) But don’t worry, in a couple months we’ll turn around and trade that 1st round pick for Davante and everything will be ok! That is until Rodgers gets killed again and we’re stuck once again with his roster being run by his OC
How is this correct? We went 6-10 with Carroll and then the Kotite error began. That's 3 right there. Tied it maybe, but didn't see a new record.
Actually, make that four, if you are looking for consecutive double-digit loss seasons. It's a first in the history of NYJ by the way. Or probably he meant 3 straight double digit loss seasons under a single regime.
It is pretty wild that Carroll is still a Head Coach in the league. He was replaced by Kotite. Kotite hasn’t stepped on an NFL sideline in almost 30 years and Carroll will coach Sunday
