100% agree my friend. This organization looks like the ultimate joke right now and they've brought it on themselves.
zach knows he isn't on the team next year. He knows it's done here. Why go out there with an idiot at OC, no weapons, 5th string tackle and 3rd string guard to have zero success? The only tape that will be over the next 6 will be bad.
It sounds like a game of dueling leaks. What Howe is reporting sounds like it was leaked by Wilson's agent as damage control. The leaks to Russini and the Athletic beat reporter sound like they came from the team. Russini and the beat writer attribute the information to "multiple team sources." God knows why anyone from the team would leak this.
I interpret it as clarifying what was likely taken out of context and blown up as opposed to actual backpedaling. Same difference in the end, but there is likely some level of truth to this.
No good - the league would not allow it. I kind of remember whatever team Calabrese was coaching for during Covid had three QBs out sick and they were going to put him on the active list but the NFL said no because they were afraid teams would start to pad their rosters with coaches.
the tape is already bad, he can't hurt his value to a team anymore then he already has. it can only go up. this gives him a chance to put something good on film. if he can be even decent (think weeks 3-5) and make some plays, it changes his outcome greatly. good players bet on themselves and always want to prove haters wrong and get good film on tape. backing down from that challenge is a much worse look then failing at it. Boyle knows he sucks, he still took the opportunity to play.
The clown show I was referring to was JD and Saleh, not the poster. You called to get rid of them now, while I said it does not matter as long as it is before Jan 8. You were right.
the one funny thing in all this is "no bad publicity" we seem to be talked about so much even when we are trash. compared to the pats or giants or panthers we seem to be more of a hot topic
waiting for the conference to start, but to me it sounds like saleh is weighing his options and asked zach if he'd be comfortable starting again and zach was unsure. seems like he pulled him to protect him more then anything. people forget he's a 24 year old kid who came into an impossible situation this year when rodgers went down. If zach doesn't feel comfortable, saleh won't play him but if saleh asked him to play, he would regardless. thats what i'm getting out of this personally. maybe the PC sheds more light on it.
people want a story and clicks and it works. they don't want truth, they want gossip that earns clicks.
Zach now has a very light chance of some redemption , by not playing. There are a lot of people saying- see, it wasn’t Zach’s fault. If he plays he risks that.
he already played and we already seen how much worse boyle and simian are. zach was 1 issue on an offense with lots of them (no WRs outside of 1, beat up o-line, no run game, bad OC) sure a player like mahomes or rodgers could make it "work" with our defense but zach isn't that. he's a bad starter who has some backup ability on a good team. but he was our best option and fans refused to believe that mostly until they saw boyle and simian play. the 1% win chance with zach is better then the 0% with boyle/simian
