Studs The fans that continue to support this team - I can't really think of any player/coach that deserves it this week. Breece would probably be the closest or echols. I think warren did a good job spelling becton after his ankle injury. Duds Saleh/Hackett - It all starts with coaching. On Offense the play calling was so bad that the commentators all game were showing replays of nobody being open and no creativity. Our only scoring drive took a fake punt, a 2nd 4th down conversion, and a RTP penalty to put together a drive. The defense came out flat and looked out of it. Clemens almost got into a fight in the tunnel and on the field. Sauce was frustrated and slammed diggs. there was no composure or energy out there. the D let down the team as much as the offense did today. Pulling zach when the game was out of hand was pretty pointless but it did at least show boyle is worse. still all week fans will clamor for simian until he comes in and is worse. We need more urgency on offense and we need to take more chances. we also need to stop running up the middle every play when we can't run block. izzy got 1 carry, but since cook only had 2 and breece had like 10 there just wasn't enough touches to go around Gipson - opened the game with a fumble on a KR. for a team that can barely score like us, that was an early momentum changer. he's fumbled on too many returns and if he can't clean it up he won't last long in the NFL Sauce - probably the worst game of his career and the stupid penalty on top of that. GW - another week another fumble. needs to protect the ball better when running. also had a drop that hit him right in the chest. The elbow could be an issue but he hasn't played well the past couple of weeks Mitchell - the whole o-line had it's issues pretty much but Mitchell was abused. he's been solid in pass pro but this game was a rough one for him. only bright spot on the line was warren looked solid filling in for becton I could probably list the entire team but this feels like enough Small positive notes WMD had an impact. had a nice TFL against the run and a couple of QB hits. Warren looked solid filling in for becton. OT is going to be a hot topic in the offseason. If he could earn a starting role it would be huge for us echols filled in nicely for MC being out and had a nice catch/run on a fake punt
Boyle is absolutely not worse than Zach. He looked head and shoulders more poised and decisive than Zach.
The same person who accuses Jets Fans of being impatient with Zach Wilson has concluded that Boyle is worse after viewing 20 minutes of work, and that Simian is worse without even seeing him play. Beyond laughable.
Boyle is not definitively worse than Zach. No way to know that considering the situation he was thrown into was untenable. Basically the whole team was duds, even our best players. Coaching gets an A+ in the duds category since they don't really seem to have the capacity to utilize our personnel properly, adjust to the other team's weaknesses or in general have a clue WTF is going on out there. The play calling is atrocious and utterly uncreative. The call to ditch Zach (we think) has been made too late. Team is in disarray. Studs - ummmm.....I'll get back to the board on that one. Well, Saleh did make a nice tackle on Zach at least.
Especially considering Boyle looked much more poised and decisive than Zach has ever looked. It’s an odd human trait that they’d rather stubbornly defend the indefensible than just admit they were wrong
IDK what you watched but he was awful. he couldn't move the offense against a soft prevent defense in a blowout. he threw 14 passes and 3 should have been picked. throwing an INT or near INT every 5 throws isn't going to cut it. and he has no upside
I get that, but he has to learn to protect himself. it's also his 4th fumble on special teams in 10 games to start his career. thats not good for an UDFA if he wants to stick around
We seen simian in pre-season. against vanilla defenses and he couldn't even get a PS spot on the bengals. we seen boyle start against us last year and he was awful. these are known QBs with years of experiance
no we didn't. Boyle has 3 starts for his career, all with Detroit 3 years ago. At Cleveland, at Atlanta and at Seattle.
He has also had 10 professional football games, many fewer than a certain starting QB who you excuse from every bad play he makes.
Very good analysis except for your Boyle conclusion--you are not unbiased--he was certainly no worse than ZW and in many ways better--plus he had zero practice snaps with first team prior week--See how DeVito improved after a couple weeks of practice? Your judgment would never have allowed that.
