I know skates fly around and such but this was one of the most unnatural leg “kicks” or skate flying up I’ve ever seen. Not saying he tried to kill him but I wouldn’t be shocked if he was trying to kick him.
I think that guy that kicked him had previous incidents where he flailed his legs and kicked other players. So sad man. RIP

Just awful. Does anyone remember when Clint Malarchuk was cut by a skate in the neck? Luckily, the training staff was able to stop the bleeding and save his life. There was a lot of blood on the ice, scary af.
Not real interested in watching the video, I remember it happened to a goalie decades ago and it was sick to watch. That person didn't die. It's impossible to determine intent, but if the guy in any way insinuates he was pissed about a previous play or he had intent to do anything he needs to be charged. At minimum he should be banned from hockey in that country.
Well I watched the video, it is very grainy so not very easy to tell much, I will say the other players leg kicking up as high as it did does not look at all natural after getting checked by another player but there is absolutely no way to say it was intentional. For those not wanting to watch the video thinking it is too much, the one I saw just showed the one player being checked, his leg kicking out and up and apparently cutting Johnson. I actually could not even tell in the video where exactly Johnson got it it is that bad of quality
This is just terrifying to think about. I saw a very blurry version of the video so I wouldn't have to see much, but yeah he definitely kicked up his skate for no reason. Why would he do that? I agree that he should be banned after seeing that. I do remember the incident with the goalie a while back, that was different and he was on the ground, complete fluke accident. This one almost looked intentional.

I was referring to the alleged perpetrator. The article I read this morning mentioned a moment of silence for Johnson before the game and then during the game a standing ovation for Petgrave, the alleged, as it was a home game for his team, Sheffield and he was there.
