for some reason fans are stuck in the rivers/ben/mannin/brady/brees era where 5k yards and 45+TDs were a regular occurrence. passing is down, QB talent is down, o-line talent is down, offenses are at the lowest point since 2011 (In PPG averaged across the NFL)
Willie Colon nailed it — “I’m not even mad at Zach Wilson anymore,” Colon said. “I’m mad at coach [Robert] Saleh. I’m mad at that whole building, because time after time, they’ve forced down our throats that Zach Wilson is the future for the New York Jets. Because of what he does in practice is good enough for what he does on the field. You cannot watch that tape and say that right now. “It is an embarrassment. It is not cute anymore. It is beyond cute. You ask your third string offensive line to fight tooth and nails and we only got one first down, in which he ran for.”
And yet somehow Z has managed to be statistically the worst rated of them for 2 years running and is in very good shape to be worst rated quarterback in year three (the bears division ii qb may give him a run this year). Even in an era of bad qbs. He’s practically legendarily bad at this point.
Nonsense. Zach is rated about the middle of the pack. There are a lot of QBs in the NFL playing worse than Zach this year.
I keep hearing about how bad QB play is around the league, yet we are second to last in passing yards per game, tied for second to last in passing touchdowns, third to last in completion percentage. That’s gets us to 26th on points per game. So yeah, QB play is down across the league (I agree), but we’re at the bottom of that down year. To his credit, he hasn’t turned the ball over a ton compared to a lot of these teams.
In the books he is not credited with a turnover but throwing it 4 yards on 4th and 5 (Philly game) and running backwards for a sack on 4th down (Giants) are just as bad as interceptions. essentially it was a 3 turnover game for Wilson last Sunday- two fumbles and the 4th down sack. If they were 3 interceptions clearly we would claim he sucked but I don’t see how this is different
What is he rated middle of the pack in? QB rating a pretty effective overall measure and he's rated 30th, ahead of tannehill and d. jones as far as those who have played meaningful games.
He's solidly middle of the pack in adjusted completions between 7 and 9 yards on nights when Jupiter is in retrograde between the hours of 8:47 and 9:12 pm.
I always like when the formulate the data in graph form because you can see how far Z is from the median. Like they literally have to extend the axis in the graphs to include him most weeks. If we were just getting mid-to-bottom tier qb play we would be sure fire playoff team - i guess that's why all us haters are losing our minds....

nobody is denying how bad he was his 1st 2 years so throw that out the window. we are talking about the last 4 weeks
