Four games left in which Jets will be substantial underdogs Philadelphia Miami @Miami @Buffalo I’m going to be optimistic and assume they go 1-3. I could see them clipping Miami on Black Friday or catching the Eagles flat. Other games @Denver @NYG Chargers @Raiders Falcons Texans Washington @Cleveland @New England I’m going to say they go 5-4 as these are mostly 50/50 games. Overall 7-10
Those teams we should be able to go better than one game over .500 if not fire everyone. And I agree we gotta win one of those tough games. So this weekend Denver game is a must win, we lose this and honestly the season is prob over. This Denver D has been horrid and it would be telling if we can’t get a win there
It depends on Zach. If he can play the rest of the year like he did vs the Chiefs, then the Jets will be in every game. If he goes back to playing like crap, then they won't win many. If they beat Denver, then I will say 9-8 or 10-7.
Do we get one of these thread after every game? I'm going to wait until game 17 so I have a 50/50 chance of nailing the record! P.S. @The80sJets can we also guess the Giants record? It's not looking good. Is it because Danny Dimes is throwing quarters or has Daboll eaten himself into a food coma? Please share.
Best case scenario 6 wins, good teams find ways to win, and bad team's find ways to lose, the Jets always find away to lose
I'll go out on the same limb as @BleedJetsGreen1981 We sneak into the playoffs with a win over the Pats.
Ok, going to play this out game by game. I'm going to assume that the wheels don't come completely off at any point - because we all know they can and then we're looking at 4-13. I'll be slightly optimistc - not my usual MO. @Denver: a must win, not only because of the schedule and what the record would be, but because the Jets are angry and have momentum after that KC debacle. So they SHOULD win. Will they? I would not be the least surprised if they don't. I'm gonna play this the Darksider way since I'm a Darksider through and through and say we do what we always do: Denver 23, Jets 6................LOSS, 1-4 Eagles: loss. No way they win this game unless they catch the Eagles off-guard or literally everything goes right.........LOSS, 1-5 @Giants: how can we count this as a loss?? I mean, of course it's possible. But the Giants (not couting Victor Cruz) haven't been a team that's given us fits over the years and we even beat them with Darnold's talentless crew. Their line is in worse shape than ours ever was. WIN, 2-5 Chargers: this is a true toss up. Chargers are better than they play, but the Jets always beat them. Can't remember more than 2-3 games over the years where the Chargers won. The Brett Favre year early in the season is one, a terrible loss in the Sanchez era is another - but I digress. Flip a coin. Call it a win for the hell of it, we need some "playoffs here we come" drama in our lives. WIN, 3-5 @Raiders: another game we should win. But will we??? Not a very good team, but long trip acorss the country, in my world we've won two and a row and everyone should be good and excited by now - the Denver loss forgotten, optimism reigning once again, playoff talk in the air.................LOSS, 3-6 @Bills: this is a revenge game for the Bills, who people have been sleeping on since last year. I honestly hope I'm wrong about a couple of the games earlier because I don't see this being a win at all.........LOSS, 3-7 Dolphins: Jets have lost two in a row in my world, people should be good and negative and calling for Zach's headband again. National TV game, Miami will be favored in the first-ever Black Friday game. Jets usually surprise people in these situations, so let's go for another gasp of hope for a playoff spot.....WIN, 4-7 Falcons: Jets should be able to handle a rookie QB and a fairly weak Atlanta team - not because they are the better team, but because why wouldn't they start a little winning streak to get people excited again for the third time this season?...............WIN, 5-7 Texans: ah - the schedule makers knew what they were doing here. Stick a bad team in MetLife Stadium in December with the Jets hot and fans starting to talk playoffs again. Two straight wins, we're through the hardest part of the schedule. Many of you (not saying us cuz it won't be me) will be looking at the schedule and saying "Miami is the only possible game we can lose, we're going 9-8!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - and the Jets will shit the bed. This one I'm sure of. Take the points and the under on this game. We've seen this game a zillion times over the years, and it's pretty much always the same. Low scoring, unfathomable, and a................LOSS, 5-8 (extra bonus score prediction: 16-12) @Miami: at 5-8 and headed into a road game against a fierce division rival that is likely going to be vying for a playoff spot, if not the division, the boys in green will give us hope one more time. They'll upset the Dolphins on the road, sweep the season series, get to 6-8 with a couple of weak teams left, setting up a possible showdown with New England to get over .500 at 9-8 or even sneak into a playoff spot. That will be the narrative as they head into the next game against Washington......WIN, 6-8 Commanders: complete and utter toss up. Which Jets team shows up? Which Washington team shows up? Jets SHOULD win this one at home, so I'm gonna call this one a win just to set up all the "we're turning the corner!!!" posts for the fourth time this season. After beating Miami on the road, the fans will be all over it again as if they haven't had the rug pulled out 3 times this season already.......WIN, 7-8 @Browns: another toss up. Jets SHOULD win this one too. The hardest one on the schedule to pick for me. How are the Jets going to screw us this year? Will they lose here and make the final week only about maybe ending the streak against the Pats? Or will they win, get the entire Gang Green Nation in a foaming at the mouth frenzy to head to NE with a possible playoff spot on the line? Oh man, this one HURTS!!!! Since this ain't real, I'm gonna go for the ultimate SOJ heartbreak and call this one a.....................WIN, 8-8 Now I swear until the Browns game, I did not set this up to be a win and in showdown against the Pats. But since I"m SOJing this entire thread, it makes perfect sense. The Jets after the ultimate up and down season head to Foxboro where you KNOW a playofff spot will be on the line. Somehow, the AFC will fall into place where 9-8 will get the Jets in if they beat the Pats. It's just TOO perfect. Drumroll please. @New England: the ultimate end to the season no matter what. The Jets lost Rodgers 4 plays into the season. Wilson looked like a 5th stringer for a couple of games, then was up and down winning a few, losing a few, and fought their way back to .500. The crappy Texans loss will be on everyone's mind. "If only"......if only the Jets could've beat the easiest team on the schedule at home with everything on the line. Either the Jets lose like usual, Belichick goes home with a smirk on his face for the 16th straight game, and the Jets SOJ it into the offseason, or they blow up everything that's been said about them for decades Red Sox Yankees back from 3-0 to win the World Series style to get into the playoffs and thrill us all. I'm all about SOJ, so......................LOSS, 8-9.
If this happens, I will make a party at a bar somewhere in the city and and pay for everyone's tab MARK MY WORDS
After following this team for almost 30 years, I feel like there are two directions this season can end up going. If Zach truly has turned the corner and he shows it this Sunday, then we have a chance to make the playoffs. The more likely scenario is we lose in Denver as we almost always do somehow someway. Followed by a loss to Philly. the Giants beat us as per usual. We end up with 5 wins with 3 of them coming in the last weeks of the season to hurt our draft stock. We end up picking in the highest position of same record teams and just miss out on the guy we want.
