First excuse me if I spelled any names wrong, to the point ...

My wife and I were in Cape Cod for vacation a few years ago and we went to an event on Nantucket. At the event we saw Belichick hanging with a few old white guys I didnt recognize.

Later at the event I was talking to a Nantucket cop who told me that Beli was there with Wayne Hyzenga, the Dolphin and Marlin's owner. He said that those two spend alot of time golfing at the Nantucket Country club and both are members. Hyzenga flies in on his private jet all the time.

Why does this matter? If they are good friends that may supercede their NFL rivalries and Beli may have some real influence in the Dolphins choice for a head coach and be pushing Shotty for a number of reasons , not the least of which could be revenge againt the Jets for, well, everything.

Another possibility is that they have no real interest in Shotty and are just doing a mind-freak on the Jets. Any opportunity for The Pats or Fins organization to mess with the Jets would be relished.

    Any thoughts?

Seems a bit convoluted and disrespectful to Schottenheimer as an individual. I doubt it very much.

Wayne Huizenga is probably smart enough to know that anything coming out of Belichik's mouth about the Dolphins is likely poison.

Of course he might not be that smart, and Belichik might be smart enough to be telling Huizenga NOT to hire Schottenheimer.

    1. Belichick would never allow a personal relationship to interfere with his work. He wants to win, regardless of who he's playing--even if he's friends with their owner.

    2. The Dolphins would not be spending this much time, money, and effort interviewing Schottenheimer if they weren't actually interested in him. It would be a complete waste.

    3. When will people learn that there is no conspiracy against the Jets? This is like middle school inferiority complex-type stuff. Do Huizenga and Belichick want to beat the Jets? Of course. Are they meeting in smoke-filled back rooms, cooking up ethically questionable ways to pry away our coaching talent? Not a chance.

Belichick might be a jagoff, but he's not a comic book supervillain, the Jets are not his caped nemesis, and he does not lay awake at night thinking of evil schemes he can execute against us.

Jets fans really need to get over themselves sometimes.

    dbatesman,

Gotta say I think you are giving to much credit to NFL owners, execs and coaches. Have you been watching what has been going on around this organization for the past 10 years. Believe it or not many decisions in this world are made based on personal feeling, yes, even big multi-million dollar deals in the super professional NFL.

I am not infering that there is a conspiracy against the Jets, but obviously there is no love lost between members of the Pats and Jets organizations. To assume that people in high positions don't hold grudges or look for revenge is not very realistic.

Curtis Martin to the Jets, Bill Parcells to the Jets, Bill Belechick to the Pats, Eric Mangini to the Jets, Dion Branch tampering charges. All these moves were based on calculated business decisons and not personal relationships? I think not.

I think that if the Dolphins take Shottster, it may actually be good for us, because I don't think this dude is really ready for a head coaching position.
