Just shows how incompetent this organization is, you got a competent qb 7 years younger who will cost you nothing but money, what do you do? Go mortgage the future for a 40 year old

All kinds of crazy stats are getting thrown around. I read on another site that the pressure rate is only 33%. Following are more stats from that site.

    • The Jets have allowed pressure on 33.3% of dropbacks, that’s the 2nd highest rate in the NFL ahead of only the San Francisco 49ers (40%)

    • The average time the Jets QB has had between receiving the ball and making a pass, or pressure collapsing the pocket is 2.7…the second-best mark in football, behind the Chicago Bears.

    • The Jets have allowed 6 sacks through two games, and 11 teams have allowed more, including the Bills (7), Eagles (7) and Giants (10).

    • Despite the pressure rate, teams have blitzed the Jets just 10 times through the first two games, only 4 teams have been blitzed less.

    • The Jets have used play-action passes just 5 times this season, only 4 teams have used it less.

    • The Jets on average have had 2.3 rushing yards before contact, that’s middle of the back for the league.

    • The Jets average 3.0 yards after contact on rushes, which is the 2nd best mark in football through the first two weeks.
    Duane Brown
    Pass Block Grade: 41.5 (65/70)
    Sacks allowed: 2 (61/70)
    Pressures allowed: 8 (60/70)
    Pass-Blocking efficiency: 91.5 (67/70)
    Run-Blocking grade: 56.8

    Laken Tomlinson
    Pass Block Grade: 52.2 (47/68)
Sacks allowed: 0 (Joint first with 45 others)
    Pressures allowed: 4 (32/68)
    Pass-Blocking efficiency: 96.6 (40/68)
    Run-Blocking grade: 55.5

    Connor McGovern
    Pass Block Grade: 26.5 (33/33)
    Sacks allowed: 1 (26/33)
    Pressures allowed: 6 (29/33)
    Pass-Blocking efficiency: 94.1 (33/33)
    Run-Blocking grade: 49.9

    Alijah Vera-Tucker
    Pass Block Grade: 46.2 (56/68)
    Sacks allowed: 1 (45/68)
    Pressures allowed: 8 (60/68)
    Pass-blocking efficiency: 92.4 (66/68)
    Run-Blocking grade: 79.7

    Mekhi Becton
    Pass Block Grade: 60.1 (47/70)
Sacks allowed: 0 (Joint first with around 40 others)
    Pressures allowed: 6 (49/70)
    Pass-Blocking efficiency: 94.9 (60/70)
    Run-Blocking grade: 48.3

I don't know that I believe any of those stats. There's no way Brown should have a pass blocking efficiency of 91% and now way that Becton run blocking grade should be 48.3. The other one that makes no sense is the Jets having the 2nd best rate in the NFL in time it takes the QB to get the ball out. After all, Zach has been criticized for holding the ball too long, and I had seen here or elsewhere that he was still up over 3 seconds before getting the ball out, and that Mac Jones was under 3 and several other QBs were under 3. I think these sports writers are just making shit up.

As for Zach stopping to run, Saleh or Hackett may have told him to, due to being afraid that he'd get hurt.

And the team that was pressured the most has Brock Purdue a guy who was drafted in the 7th round is still performing way better than Zach your point?

Actually, he did. He had just bought the team from Hess or the Hess estate. That was one of the reasons Belichick split. He didn't know the new owner or maybe did and knew enough to know not to hang around.

It was right around the same time but the reason Bill left was because he’d been negotiating with Kraft right until Parcells stepped down. He already had his deal in place, that’s why Parcells stepped down, so the Patriots would owe them draft picks

Well, I guess the saying “you play like you practice” is true then.

It’s only a matter of time before this Oline gets another QB hurt. Honestly shocked it didn’t happen Sunday.

If what you're saying is true, then if you're a GM/coach, you have to be smarter than to give an idiot owner what he wants. Sure, you can keep your job another year or two, but you will get fired because after enough losing that's what happens, and because you did all that dumb stuff, you become much less employable going forward.

Again, context is everything. Maybe Zach (and Rogers) have only been sacked 6 times, but it would've been a LOT more if Zach didn't use his athleticism to escape them. Re-watch the Bills and Cowboys games - does it look like he wasn't under that much pressure? And having only been blitzed 10 times is very telling because it shows that teams can get all this pressure without having to blitz. And the 2.3 yards before contact doesn't indicate which side of the line produces better results - I'd wager it' by far the right side, and yet against Dallas they hardly ran that way at all.

In short, statistics fail to show the whole story, and in fact are misleading in some respects. They can't be put out there by themselves and tell what really happened, whether for the team, or for individuals. Take Zach's 3 INTs - yes, not good in any case, but here's some important context: he didn't throw his first pick until it was already 27-3! And none of them cost any points. Or how about this "non stat"? Where does Sauce's dropped pick - almost certainly a pick 6 that would've given the Jets a 14-10 lead - get itemized?

I'm not trying to beat up on you for using stats. I know you know that without context they lose a lot of value, but I want to make it clear that trying make a case one way or the other by listing stats doesn't mean much.

WTF? If he isn't practicing, he shouldn't be playing! Saleh has lost it.

Brown can be given the LT spot on a silver platter without practicing, but Becton, and everyone else, has to go out there and earn his playing time. Makes total sense.

I know that you aren't trying to beat me up. I wasn't really trying to use them for anything except to point out to Lon Chaney that I had seen conflicting stats on another website and question the veracity and context of the stats. Context is everything, and we both know and believe in that quote attributed to Mark Twain. I did see some stats on the rushing attack a day or so ago. Again one needs context, but they do show tendencies and relative success. If memory serves me correctly, the Jets only rushed to the right twice and I think got 6 yards on both of the carries or averaged 6 yards on those two carries. Most of the rest of the runs or maybe all were to the left, and they averaged something like 2.3 ypc.

Zach was definitely under pressure the whole game. In fact, I don't remember one single time that he dropped back to pass and there wasn't pressure all around.

I claimed back in TC that Saleh's decisions were too influenced by his personal feelings about players, and specifically with regards to Brown and Becton, and took heat for it. Where were you then? LOL

To be fair, it's more than some. I'd say the majority of Jets fans were happy we chose Rodgers.
