I agree with most of this statement. What I question is whether Mitchell should be the first guy off the bench if one of the tackles is injured. I have to admit that I haven't watched Turner closely in the two televised games, but I have tried to keep an eye on Mitchell (for whom I had high hopes). It was obvious that Mitchell in the two games was thoroughly stinking it up in an embarrassing way. Conversely, I've seen Turner take some decent snaps but also get beat a few times. Mitchell might have some upside in the future, but for whatever reason he looks totally unprepared to put in major snaps as an NFL tackle, to my untrained eye. Of course, you have seen both in person in training camp, so I value your opinion over my own observations. All I've got to say is that if Turner is actually worse than Mitchell at this point then Turner doesn't belong on an NFL roster.
Breece is not only a dangerous runner but he's also a great pass catching back. Having him back is huge!
I just want to be clear to everyone, I have not been present at any Jets practices for TC (an unfortunate aspect of living in Kentucky while being a Jets fan). I merely post tweets from the beat and fans who are present for those practices on this message board so that it's all in one place for everyone. I'm just giving my opinion on Turner/Mitchell based off of what I've seen in the PS games and what I've read from the beat in tweets/articles/etc. At the end of the day, the better player should be the swing OT this season, but IMO I would give Mitchell the first crack at that due to him being a 2nd year player vs Turner who's going into his 10th year in the league.
Hard to tell without pads on, obviously, but I think he makes Amos miss there no matter what. That knee is looking pretty, pretty, pretty good.
