Maybe after Saturday when Wilson play a good gamewe find a taker. Pretty sure we can sucker someone. Please let this happen. There are other options
It looks like Bawden would have ran out of bounds anyways if he kept going. So he was just going to stand there motionless? Idk. Terrible throw and decision, idk how people can defend it. He steps left with his front foot, rather that into the throw. Hips already look open, throwing with all arm. Terrible. It's practice so w/e, but it isn't good.
Yeah it wasn't a miscommunication, the pass just has to come out. Bawden ran his route, a down and out. The QB took too long and then lazily chucked it up. But the guy from North Carolina who doesn't watch the games says I'm ignorant, what can ya do
Yes. I'm sure there will be teams lining up. Jesus, and I get crucified for ripping on people but this is just beyond idiotic.
You lose all credibility with your last sentence. That was in the past, not present. I'll take the word over someone who was there at practice over someone like you who is wrong about almost everything he posts. Zach was going through his progressions, the ball couldn't have come out any earlier. You've never liked or wanted Zach, so you see what you want to see. In addition, he had been scanning the field and he knew he had held the ball a while. This was clearly supposed to be a dump off in the flat, nor a run route. Bawden was supposed to sit down and be there. He wasn't. End of story.
Hopefully I don't have to say this to many time let's hope Wilson has a good showing. Will make his trade value go up. Yes we will have to eat some contract. But good riddance
It's extremely hard to tell whose fault the Zach INT is without knowing what the called play route was, if Bawden signaled, or if Zach misread the coverage. There is also the question of the accuracy of that flat pass. It looked like Zach anticipated Bawden to fade to sideline and that thrown ball would have been in front anyway. I personally think Zach will never be a good QB, but if he wants to remain as a backup that's fine. There are plenty of upgrades over Zach for QB backups but I think Joe D wants to save his image for drafting Zach, who IMO, is a 100% certified and irredeemable bust.
We have video footage, we can both see what happened, we don’t need the word of anyone Watch the play- do you think that pass has any chance? Where is Bawden supposed to go after he runs his route? To the sideline for a hotdog? Wilson obviously looks at multiple options, this is the NFL the pass has to come out
Don’t even waste your energy bringing up the cap hit they take by trading him. People on this board just refuse to compute that little wrinkle
It's $20M if we straight out cut him but what's the cap hit if we traded him (not saying we should at this point) to another team for their 7th Rounder in the supplemental draft or some fridge magnets? ***I'm a British fan so all this cap stuff is very foreign to me
NO ONE here knows what the play call was.... nor does one one shitty pass define a career, but how in the fuck can anyone who knows anything about football see that and think that's not a terrible read/throw by the QB?!?!
FTR, and speaking for myself, I never said it wasn't a terrible read and pass from what I could see. But it was one bad play. Even HOF QBs have days where they make a couple of mistakes. From what I heard, overall, Zach had a pretty good day despite the shitty OL play, and even accounting for that one bad pass. But the Zach Haters can't let up, nothing he does will satisfy them. Yes, he has a long road to show that he's dependable and capable of being a good NFL QB, and maybe he won't, but he has made improvement if anyone cares to look objectively.
These are the throws Zach needs to clean up. This is why they practice. Zach had a good day yesterday by all accounts. His biggest problem is bouncing back and it looked like he bounced back well. People here expect AR level play year 3 . AR was not hall of fame AR year 3. Aaron Rodgers had a passer rating of 73.3 with 329 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception in 7 games in his first 3 seasons.
All Zach Wilson needs to do is sit on the bench and be ready to game manage us to a win or two if Rodgers misses a few games. I don't think that's too much to ask and I think he's capable of doing just that. By the way, did anyone catch the White Knight's stat line from his first preseason game with the Dolphins? 9/14 85 yards and an interception. But it's only preseason....
But what is the actual cost? My limited understanding is that we'd still be paying his signing bonus in 2024 and we'd only save on his annual salary for that year?
