Many would say the American Revolution succeeding started the US on the road to becoming a world power with the war of 1812 confirming that as the British blockaded the east coast of the US and attacked New Orleans but were defeated. It probably wasn't actually until the Spanish American War at the end of the nineteenth century that the overall strength of the US was recognized, although that war was secondary to the industrial revolution in the middle of the 1800s that showed the US as a true economic power It was only after World War II that the term "super Power" began to be tossed around, largely as a result of the US maintaining its economic strength through that war and the post war period. It takes more than a strong military to create a powerful country. That's a paragraph; the whole story would take a bit longer to tell. Unfortunately the whole story would inevitably deteriorate into political discord if discussed here. Asking your exact question here on Google can give you a good start on a few places to begin your studies and see how opinions differ on the matter.
Brook there is actually a great movie out in theaters right now that will explain how, why and when we became the world's greatest power its called Barbie excuse me I mean Oppenheimer
We have an S… load of natural resources and are large enough and far away enough to make invading difficult.
We are indeed the Harvey Weinstein of the world. Right place at the right time really. FDR mobilized American’s manufacturing industry into becoming a world super power. Europe was decimated by war, Russia lost millions, China was dealing with its own Hitler but he didn’t invade other countries so the west left him alone. We rebuilt Europe in our own vision and got them hooked on America’s protection, goods and energy. Ironically, we’re losing all three of those fronts now along with what made us into a superpower - manufacturing. And instead, we’re hooked on foreign manufacturing.
I was once told that if you control money and pussy you have power.... Barbie apparently has a firm grip on both
