The funniest story regarding the Jets and the Super Bowl trophy hasn’t even been brought up….. the team was presented the trophy in the locker room and literally forgot to bring it with them when they left the Orange Bowl!! It was not until the team was literally in the plane on the tarmac that somebody in the front office realized it was was left in the locker room …. Somebody - I forgot who - was dispatched visa police motorcade back to the Orange Bowl to retrieve it - while the plane waited on the tarmac. I think I read that in Gerald Eskanazi’s book Gang Green….
Very informative video about the AFL NFL and superbowl III. At 2:50 they show the 'new' Jets logo. So it is not a new but an old logo. The video is about rigged superbowls and some, most notably Bubba Smith, believed the game was rigged to facilitate the NFL AFL merger. Also, the Colts owner was a known gambler who might have bet big on the game. Earl Morral threw three interceptions in the red zone and did not throw the ball on a flea flicker to the intended receiver who was wide open. Don Shula did not believe Bubba Smith and he was neutralized by Dave Herman. Other things also tend to show that the game was not rigged.
