Some informative post from your friendly moderator. Kuntz is a German word. It is pronounced as it is written. The "u" is pronounced like "oo" in the word book. So read it as Koontz. How do I know? Stefan Kuntz was a famous German soccer player. He is now the Head Coach of Turkish National Soccer team.
The interesting thing is he has been recovering from a knee injury since October. Doing as well as he did in the combine shows he has discipline and knows how to work hard. His blocking and fight for the ball have been questioned, but six foot eight inches with that catch radius and soft hands makes me wonder if he can be used this year for situational plays (ie red zone) as a WR.
Yes, but the first time he drops a sure TD pass and costs us a game, the pronunciation will revert to its more Anglo-Saxon roots of Kuhntz.
I mean, every pick we make you could ask the same question. Every player is passed up on by a team until they’re picked with the exception of #1 overall.
Uh yeah obviously …. but when you dig deeper and read all of these beat writers talking about what a phenomenal athlete he is and his gen stats etc. you would think the Jets just drafted the best player in the entire draft. I didn’t see any other such excitement about any other player …that’s why I asked the question.
I believe he’s considered raw as a route runner and incredibly raw as a blocker. He’s also a bit light for his height. He found success in college based in his speed and his height and while he might see the field this year, he’s the definition of a developmental prospect.
