For me, the only pick in question was the 1st Round Pick. I wanted the WR out of Ohio State but we went with Pass Rusher McDonald. So I give this a solid B

    How about you guys?

Yes I know these guys still didn't play a down with the Jets. But draft is over, season is 5 months away. We gotta talk and bitch about something right?

First round pick was originally a D, but going OL with the next two picks bumps it up to a C-. The rest of the draft was a solid B+, so I'll give the draft a B- on the whole.

I'd rate it higher if we were fielding a basketball team...

I'll give it a C+ because of the McDonald pick. Hopefully he proves me wrong. I would've traded down a bit and taken Harrison.

I give it a solid B. Will keep an eye on UDFA activity and how we net out in post draft free agency

I wanted OT in round 1 but moving down 2 spots cost us big time.

That being said, I won’t complain about drafting pass rushers…I like the idea that you can never have enough good ones, and even more so seeing how Saleh loves his rotation…if we can rotate guys so we always have a stud rusher at full rest that will be a brutal line. Look at Philly…they drafted 2 DL in round 1. And they already have studs there. Can’t have enough.

I like the starting caliber center in round 2, and I’m hoping the OT we took pans out. I also like the RB in round 5 giving us a solid group of Hall, MC, Bam, and the rookie…a freak sized TE in round 7 was cool…if he can at least line up on the goal line and win jump balls that’d be great.

Overall I went with a B…getting one of the stud OTs in round 1 would have made it an A for me, but we’ll see.

We also need bodies at DT, but they may be looking to play JFM inside more…

I'm not knowledgeable enough to grade NFL draft.. but I will say I did like the positions we drafted including the first round.

McDonald will most likely take over for Lawson next year, and I don't think we would have gotten a better player in the draft next year picking in the (hopefully) late 20s.. and we don't have to spend big to replace either.

I think even JD would give this draft a C+ to B-, just the way he missed out in rd1

we made a big mistake with our 1st rd pick (24y/o who couldn't dominate a bunch of 19-22y/o's) who should have lost a rd or two rating on age alone. not only a bad pick but we looked completely unprepared for the ol to be gone. unacceptable.

and lets be honest, when do we ever hit on our 2nd-7nd rd picks? so, lets keep it real. C-

I rated the draft an A. When you acquire a QB the caliber of Rodgers, it changes the whole trajectory of your team. Things that were deemed weaknesses before, are now not so urgent. A QB like Rodgers who has operated at a HOF level for nearly 2 decades knows exactly what to do with a football when he drops back. I feel he will do fine with the Jet OL as constituted before the draft. A great QB can make an average OL look good. He will also help the D by putting points on the board, allowing it to operate without having to play with a constant deficit as we've seen over the last decade. So, when the 4th rated OT went to the Steelers, kudos to JD for not reaching for OT #5. Instead they picked a guy they thought was BPA in McDonald. Edge guys are like QBs, very difficult to predict success, but they apparently like what he brings, so I'm fine with the pick. I really liked the Tippmann pick in round 2. He doubled down on OL in round 4. From this point on, the Jets present a strong roster. They are solid on D, RB, WR, TE, so for me, BPA was the best strategy and it seems that's how they drafted the rest of the way.

I’ll give it A- on paper only as of right now. With AR, This team was completely transformed from a heart breaker looser to a winning franchise elevating both the D and taking the O to a new level. If the rookie DE and C shine and we get contributions from the RB and solid back up from the T this is another killer draft.
    Take me to the playoffs.

The 1st round pick was a surprise to all of us because we were sure that they wanted a OT and then the 3 top candidates were gone. I had the feeling I do during a fantasy draft when I write down 3 names and then they are taken so I quickly have to think of a new name. The difference here is that the plethora of FO staffers had to have thought of every possibility, including this one, so I am confident in the pick.

They scored the dopest basketball shoes of the early 80s, Got Carter, while bringing unity to Zaire, and giving some Kuntz just the Tippman… all while jamming to Israel vibration and chowing on a McDonald’s Royale with cheese….

    not too bad

Not that I'm in position to grade drafts with any authority but I'd give it an A- I'm less upset that some about McDonald in the 1st round. The other OT guys were already taken and while Saleh and Douglas might not have a magic crystal ball they aren't idiots. Obviously they feel this kid fits their system well so I'm going to assume he does and they will get a lot of mileage out of him.

The next three picks though look like potential home runs to my non-expert eyes. The RB looks potentially awesome, Tippman looks like a 12 year pro and potential team leader/core type player, and this OT Warren looks like a legit chance at being an NFL starter level player who's draft position was artificially held down by an injury.... that is purportedly all healed.

If those three guys pan out to any degree and McDonald is a productive player in the Jets defensive system I'm not sure how much more water you could have gotten out of the stone this year.

    A+

Draft Grades given before players step on the field, are based on “value” and if a player could have been taken later.

McDonald was “graded” as late first so that’s between about 20 and 31.

Pittsburg traded a mid 4th to trade up 4 spots. The next rate was Tenn trading up 7 spots by swapping 3rd round picks.

It’s safe to assume IF someone wanted to trade up, the most we would have received is a day 3 pick.

The Jets decided to take their best speed rusher in the Draft as opposed to risking him for an extra 4th rd pick. I can’t penalize JD for that decision.

He later got extra late round picks by turning in 3 day 3 darts into 5 day 3 darts.

He gets his #1 speed rusher, his #1 C, gets depth in the 4th, fills an under appreciated need in the 5th. And picks a giant in the 7th.

And he got Aaron Rodgers with a pick swap in the 1st, a 2nd, and a future 1st.

    A+

I don't have a warm and fuzzy for this draft. But we got training camp to sort it out. I do like the tight-end pick. A gigantic guy that could be a difference maker in the red zone at 6'7. I didn't like the first round pick but liked the running back they got later. He and Breece Hall could be a dynamic duo.
