There is a good ass chance we don't have a QB In a year and we just lost our first next year. Not sure what you are confused about. We know what this team looks like without a QB. We don't have a FQB. We don't have a FQB. We still don't have a FQB.
I don't know if you posted on this thread, but apparently all of TGG wasn't living in reality. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/predict-the-pick-for-aaron-rodgers.98860/
This is an unbelievably weak stance. Put a competent quarterback under center against the Ravens, Lions, Dolphins and those are wins. The game works both ways.
Some of y’all really are miserable, JD has made a bunch of trades and usually comes out on top value wise. The one time he overpays y’all go crazy. We needed a QB and we wanted A rod it’s done and now let’s build the rest of the team. Let’s look forward to the season and actually having a QB that can play since Pennington? Vinny? Namath? We haven’t had many so chill out damn
WTF couldn't next years 2nd convert to a 1st if we win something rather than if rogers plays 2/3 of snaps? Like we make the playoffs or something? That was too hard for the Jets FO to get?
So you are confirming that you think we mortgaged the entire future because we won’t be able to take a first round quarterback next year? And you are already deciding Rodgers is playing one year? Just let me know if that’s the case so I can stop engaging with you on this topic.
That's equivalent to saying hell, I'll pay double what this house is worth--lets just sit back and enjoy the view.
Last year with Rodgers we would have won those games and been neck and neck with the Bills for the division. But we won't do as well with Rodgers this year as we would have last year, and that's the point I'm trying to make.
I think the truth is that if we go 8-9 this season, JD is gone either way. Which is why I feel he overpaid to get the best QB we could have gotten to maximize chances for success this year. We need to win this year, however short term it may be. We are going all in, and if we don't succeed it will be another GM who will need to deal with not having 2024 1st pick. Let's just hope we succeed and this pick is #29 or worse, then AR stays for another year. But I do not believe JD makes this trade if he had security as a long tenured successful GM and is able to wait GB out.
Why do you think it's "double"? Most reports were first round flip, 2nd rd pick and a conditional next year. The conditions suck for next year's pick no doubt. But double?
McGovern signing opens up the second round for a wild card. Jets are loaded with young talent. Rogers insures that it will not go to waste. I've been a Jet fan since 1965. People saying how much they have suffered need to get a life. I expect Rodgers will be great for both Wilsons and am optimistic that Becton will stay healthy and be productive. Can't wait.
They have us at 9.5 wins. So it's fair to say 8-9 isn't the most likely outcome; 9-8 or 10-7 is. 9-8 or 10-7 would not justify this trade though.
Are you just being intentionally obtuse? Currently, as it stands, Lamar Jackson can be traded for 2 1’s. Now, there’s a lot of things that have to happen for that to take place so I’m not saying that’s the only outcome but saying Lamar CAN be traded for 2 1’s is an absolute fact.
I agree with all of this, but the "90% retired" I believe was just AR forcing GB's hand to trade him...he had no real desire to retire, and if you look at his comments since the possibility of being traded here, it doesn't indicate he's thinking of retirement. In fact, I'd say he has a chip on his shoulder and wants to prove he's at least as good as Brady, if not better.
