If John Elway retired after beating the Packers in Super Bowl XXXII, how would of the 1998 season been different? Nice to have a "What if?" thread here and there. What do you guys think? I know it doesn't matter at all, but what if?
Ha ha, yeah me too. But it does make you wonder. After never winning a Super Bowl Elway wins one and decided to come back for one more year. TGG would have more credibility.
That SB should been Jets vs. Vikings. That would have been killer. Jets vs. Falcons would have been a washout. Remember the regular season game?
I do. Chris 'Chandelier' was out and they started 42 year old Steve Deberg..........to disasterous results (for them). It was his last start ever. I think the score was like 34-3 Jets, or something like that.
Jets would have won the Super Bowl. 1998 Jets were an absolute force, best coaching staff ever assembled IMO.
I can't disagree with that. Damn you Elway and Destiny! Remember, it would of been Super Bowl XXXIII. 30 years after Super Bowl III.
Denver won in 1998 and 1999 ,Im confused on how they would beat the packers in 98 and the question of how would are season have turned out in 98??
The '98 Jets were the ones who would have played in the 99 Super Bowl (the superbowl is in the next year of the season's year). And yes, the Jets could have easily beat the Falcons that season. That Jets team was the second best team in the league after Denver in 98.
If I remember, it wasn't Elway that killed us though. They wouldn't have gotten there without him, but it was Terrell Davis that ate up out run defense.
He didn't throw many INTs at all that year, and he wouldn't have thrown 2 in Denver if Elway was retired and he didn't have to come from behind.
I happen to think the '98 Jets were great. That was an incredible team. Vinny was great, Curtis was a force and the Tuna was at his absolute best. It all went down hill in Sep of the following year when Vinny's achillies gave out....
