Brady is shot. I’d roll with Rogers but what will it take to get him? We have so much young talent and an opportunity to bolster the team with even more. I’d be wary of what we’d have to give up.
I don't want any of those listed - given its a Xmas wish list - I want the Jets to finally land their own franchise QB, someone that plays for them for 8+ years and is consistently a top 10 rated QB - hey miracles can happen right?
Getting one of the QBs on the list doesn't prevent us from also drafting one. Look at the Chiefs drafting Mahomes with Alex Smith, Ravens drafting Jackson with Flacco, Eagles drafting Hurts with Wentz, etc.
Carr is now my top choice. We may be able to get him without having to give up many (or any) assets, and while Garoppolo is good enough to be the answer, he can't stay healthy. And I don't trust White at all. Get Carr for next year, fix the OL, and start drafting QBs with non-top 10 picks until we finally get lucky with one. Best case is Carr plays like a top 10 QB having gotten away from the Raiders; worst case is he's average, which still lets us have a good shot at the playoffs until we finally get our guy.
Let's see how many people remember to come back to this thread and change their votes away from Mike White.
It doesn't really mean much; there was a legitimate case to bring back White next year before this game. The problem isn't people who get things wrong, it's people who get things wrong and then double down on them because they can't admit they were wrong.
we might actually do better getting the 4th or 5th most highly regarded QB in the draft picking at around #12 than we've done picking in the top 5 - hell it would be near impossible to do any worse!
There's no QB that I'd feel good about using a first round pick on. Later rounds and a year or two running the practice squad? Maybe. Lamar will never hit the open market. Brady and Rogers are both declining. That severely limits our options. I'm not sold on Carr or Jimmy G after watching Stidham and Purdy duel it out at a higher level. We're not in a good spot.
