Derek "Emo" Carr is Neil O'Donnell Redux. Both around the same age with declining skills and the only difference being O'Donnell was not a town cryer who was coming off a Super Bowl loss where he spent the 2nd half targeting the Cowboys' secondary. Carr needs to stay in Vegas or go to another fair weather city with drought issues where they can put his water works to good use.
This thread fascinates me. All these jets fans would not sign Carr if he was cut, no draft picks, and would be happy to go into next season with Mike White? Delusional.
Didn't make sense to me that they'd put Stidham behind the 8 ball and start him against the best defense in the league. Then I read about Carr injury clause, which they clearly don’t want to risk triggering. I don’t think Carr is as bad as he has looked this year. This could be a case of a change of scenery could prove beneficial? Who knows. You can play the negative game with all of the potential QB suitors. However, assuming he has a no trade clause I would think the ball will be in his court on where he plays. I would think he’d want to go to a warm weather place. Like maybe Tampa for example.
I think Minshew and White combo would be better and cheaper than Carr and White combo. That’s what I’m hoping for right now. Maybe if we plan to use a 3/4th on a QB I can live with Draft pick, White and Streveler. I really hope we can trade Wilson, I don’t want him on this team at all next year
Wow ..I love the Raiders and have so since a kid. But to have a long standing QB benched is serious stuff..Carr has definitely regressed from 2021 form and I am not sure why The Raider fan boards have absolutely had it with D Carr and here on the TGG the points against him are valid But in life everyone gets a second chance..right ? So what if Vilma right and it's just a down year? So right now I see him as a GM consideration.., and a very careful one at that A lot of questions will be answered in 2 weeks based on MWs performance : a poor showing means all other QB options are on the table..we Win out MW prob solidifies his job next year and then the questions are about his backups
Carr has now played with two coaches almost back to back that weren’t particularly fond of him and also believe in that tear you down and build you back up to be the player I want you to be rather than the player that you are. Gruden also ripped the franchise apart with the idea that he’d rebuild it and then started drafting zeroes one after another. Can someone tell me how he’s any different than Stafford? Both are probably near Hall of Famers for most of their careers if they’re drafted by the Ravens or Chiefs or Saints.
But…he played 5 out 140+ games poorly under a certain temperature. Clearly the guy is a terrible fit for the Jets because of this specific statistic.
For the lazy people who don't actually want to actually look up Carr v Stafford first 8 years in the league -- Good find JV Comp % - Stafford 61.5 v Carr 65 TDs - Stafford 187 v Carr 193 TD% - Stafford 4.4 v Carr 4.3 INTs - Stafford 108 v Carr 85 Game winning drives - 28 v 30 Yards per attempt - 7.1 each Adjust yards per attempt - 6.8 v 7.1 QBR - 86.8 v 92.4 I find it crazy that people are so automatically against Carr.
The guy I’m really warming up to is Daniel Jones. 25 years old, 6’5, mobile, good arm and has experience playing in the NY market.
Really? You have D’avante Adams as your primary receiver, among all your weapons and he has a season like this which you want to defend? Absolute garbage. Period.
The Raiders aren't benching Carr because of his off year but, rather because his contract stipulates that if he gets injured the Raiders have to pay him $32.9 million next year and $7.5 million in 2024. The team can cut him for $5.625 million cap hit before the Superbowl. Any team can swoop him and sign him to a brand new deal. Think he'd look great in Jets green or black to match his eyeliner.
He’s had the worst season of his career after transitioning to his millionth coach and offensive system. And his worst offensive season of his career would probably be top 5 in Jets history. If the Raiders defense doesn’t have 4/5 of their biggest collapses in franchise history and even win two of those games, they’re in the playoffs right now. That’s Carr’s fault? Also - all of his weapons? Renfrow and Waller have both missed most of the season. His second target is the electric Mack Hollins..
All good points about Carr. He'd be a big upgrade on what we've had no doubt (unless Mike White tears it up the next two weeks), but isn't a homerun But they're probably going to try to trade Carr, right? It's one thing to sign him and another to give up draft capital. What's he worth in a trade and is he significantly better than Jimmy G, Daniel Jones or Jimmy G especially if you factor in the draft capital needed?
