Find a way to coordinate with the HC and GM to get it right at QB finally after all these years and tank for Caleb Williams next year. You won’t win anything in this league without an elite QB, especially now that you have all these studs in the AFC. How do you it? Start Zach Wilson and bring back this same Oline from last year. Breece is going to need all of next year to be close to what he once was. You would end up losing a lot of close games. Draft Caleb Williams and we are set for the next ten years. Make up for the suffering you cost your fans losing on Lawrence and grow a pair. Worst that can happen is we lose a first round pick lol Tell me something guys…..if you could make this happen, you wouldn’t take a real winless season to get a for sure 10 years of bliss? I would tank to get a QB because this team ain’t doing anything until we have a dude at QB.
you tell them, guys we just need to suck for one year !!!…. and then we could maybe, just possibly have the next: Jarod Goff Alex Smith Carson Palmer Jeff George Baker Mayfield Sam Bradford Kyle Murray Jameis Winston David Carr Tim Couch Jamarcus Russell and be great for the next 10 years with multiple SB wins!!!!
The only QB to be drafted #1 in the last few decades and win a Super Bowl for the team that drafted him was Peyton Manning with the Colts. Tanking doesn't work either.
The Fins are short a first round pick+ this coming season because the owner tried to get his HC to lose games on purpose.
Why would we try to tank next year when for all intensive purposes the Jets in theory are in good shape roster wise? The correct play is to improve the oline and get a somewhat competent QB.
Kind of scary when an idea like this starts to make more sense than overpaying for a QB who is either on the decline or beyond his expiration date.
No, he was absolved of that, even though NFL did state that "on a number of occasions during the 2019 season, Mr. Ross expressed his belief that the Dolphins' position in the upcoming 2020 draft should take priority over the team's win-loss record." There was no punishment for that. Dolphins lost the pick for tampering on Brady and Sean Payton: https://www.nfl.com/news/dolphins-l...t-pick-owner-stephen-ross-suspended-following So, the owner did tell the coach to tank, but got no punishment, because there was no official agreement with the coach to tank. He was only stating his opinion that draft position is more important than wins, which is not a violation. So, basically, teams can tank if they want with no punishment. Why do you think Minshew was benched for Jaguars? Also the coach was told an opinion that draft position was more important. So, tanking is real, but that ship has sailed with Trevor Lawrence. Then we had a bad team, going through a rebuild, and there was an opportunity to tank. We did kinda tank by putting the worst coach in the League Gase and the worst QB in the League at the time: Sam. But it was not intentional coming from ownership, like it was for the Jags. Besides, even if we lost to the Rams and even the 3d stringers of Browns, Belichick would not allow us to get Trevor by tanking against us in the last game of the season with nothing at stake. At the end of the day we didn't have a real shot. Now we have a decent team, and we can't really tank. Also, the prize of shortie Caleb Williams as not as attractive as Lawrence was. Let's see what happens in a few years. Maybe When Arch Manning is coming out we will be bad again. That would mean we would have to go through another rebuild. Right now though tanking or just losing enough games to get a #1 pick is not in the cards for some time.
You realize that Caleb Williams will come with the exact same guarantee that Zach Wilson came with, right? There is no promise of "elite" anything in the NFL draft. The team that tanks for any draftee is setting itself up for failure; to develop a team with a winning culture you don't half-ass a single game, ever. There is no "for sure" and that's for sure.
Tanking was part of the investigation. Maybe not the part they sanctioned on but the league was sending a clear message that purposeful tanking followed through upon was sanctionable.
Right? Dumb threads like this don’t factor in that losing and playing poorly costs individuals money they can never recover. Why does everyone think Elijah Moore was so annoyed with not getting the rock? They’re both unbelievable. Glad to see he went back to UNC. I think there’s only been two quarterbacks in my lifetime that we worth tanking for as a sure bet. And one of them optionally ended their own career.
