The season was the same for everyone, up then down. For me, it has nothing to do with belief in Zach, or being a Zach apologist... it's about using my brain, rather than emotions. So, I understand completely, why y'all see things the way y'all do. If one looks at Daniel Jones, one sees he's taken a leap with solid coaching. If one looks at Trevor Lawrence, same thing. Etc, Etc... If one looks at their own personal experience as an athlete, one knows the value of an experienced coach. If one looks at Zach, one sees a defensive HC, an inexperienced OC, & a guy with no experience as his QB coach. I have no idea if Zach's capable of being an NFL QB, but I do know he was never given a shot to develop as one, by this organization. The Jets knew what they were getting when they drafted him, & decided not to build their offense around him, & not to surround him with an experienced staff to guide him. And thus, he's regressed, & is a worse QB now than when drafted.
Are you his boy? He’s been given plenty of shots to succeed by the organization. He plays every week. He’s sucked all but probably 4 halves of his starts. Not sure why you’re so delusional about how dreadful he’s been but you’re also the emotional guy that started a thread crying about “dehumanizing Zach!!!!!” like a softie McSoftsteen.
Meaningful games in Dec. Most of us would have settled for that last summer. Fun season ups and downs. Go for it now and the future is bright. Go Jets!!!
Zach clearly regressed this year. With that said I am more upset with the coaching staff and front office than I am with Zach. Giving up on Darnold who had a poor offensive line and no weapons and falling in love with Zach for throwing a few flashy passes in his pro day looks like a really bad decision right now. Not using the number two overall pick to trade down and load up the team looks like a worse idea. Not only didn't the coaches bench Zach in the second half of either Patriots game meltdown but they could have given Mike White his shot so much earlier in the season. Above all of these problems I have to ask, is Zach that bad or do our coaches have no idea how to develop a young QB? If we can't or won't trade Zach during the offseason we better find a new QB coach to help him.
Couple of points here. Linking to a Kansas video really ought to be a bannable offense. Haven’t we suffered enough? “Softie McSoftsteen” is an excellent insult.
No, no, the problem is that the Enola Gay came out of retirement and bombed December. The sentiment that the Jets shouldn't even be where they are is deflection over the flame out. So I am in disbelief that considering the upward trajectory that the Jets are where they are. No, wait, I totally believe it because Jets.
Many here want to blame the staff and the coaching for Zach's issues. Will any of those posters please explain to me, if it is the staff, why Mike White can just jump in with 300+ yard outings almost every game that he has played. Do those posters believe Mike is a FQB ??? Will any of those posters explain to me how Chris Streveler, from the practice squad, jumps in for a quarter and moves the team better than Zach did ??????????? No, watch the tape, watch the incomplete bunny passes that I (a 73 YO with a bum shoulder) could execute, watch the failure to see open receivers, watch the slow recognition of the field, watch wrong decisions on progressions, and watch the inaccurate throws. The only blame the staff gets is sticking with Zach far too long, and maybe that was even due to directive from above. If Mike cant go next week, I hope they have the guts to start Streveler, he will give us a much better chance to win as compared to Zach.
Please pay me 35m and I’ll stand on the 50 yard line to a packed ML stadium full of people who boo me and curse me out. Hell, people can throw shut at me if they want. I signed up for it. Zach signed up for this. He stinks because we severely overvalued his abilities as an NFL QB. Scouts, GM’s, and analysts seem to have forgotten that, unless a QB prospect is a world class athlete, a guy has to have a deep understanding of the mental aspects of football. Zach didn’t have that, therefor he needed to sit and learn. Even then he had an entire offseason to do so, yet he didn’t. The Jets don’t determine what he does in the off-season. They’re not allowed to. He had the opportunity to spend his off-season learning the game in detail and he didn’t. How do I know he didn’t? Because basic plays have been there all year. The simplest of concepts and reads have created open receivers for us, and he just doesn’t even have any idea it happened. Either he was lazy or as some alluded to, maybe he had ADD. If it’s ADD then that’s a shame, but thankfully he was paid 35m as consolation. His mom should be off limits, I agree. But I feel zero sympathy for him feeling the pressure of the boos. He plays a game for boatloads of money. Do it well or get out.
Thanks for proving my point! It's really not possible to have an intelligent, civilized conversation, with people that having nothing to add, but to call people names. Thanks for sharing!
I get only 23 years old, but when you interview and convince teams you are a franchise Qb and then are the 2nd overall pick + get a $35M contract…. well criticism comes with THAT job if you underperform and rightly so. My grandfather was a WW2 Vet and said, every generation gets a little softer. I was upset when he told me this, but years later I can plainly see what he meant.
You just made a thread to talk about your hurt feelings on a football message board with a bunch of men.
