Today, two years ago the Jets won that meaningless game against the Rams with Adam Gase as our HC. How do you feel about that now?
Same old Jets, if the Jets would've lost and got the first pick, Lawrence would've became Jamarcuss Wilson, and Wilson Lawrence
Once again, please do some basic analysis before starting another thread on this. I have already pointed out if we lost that game, we STILL have #2 pick. We had to go 0-16 to get that pick including losing to 3d string Browns team decimated with COVID. #1 wasn't in the cards, stop creating more reasons to feel bad, like there aren't enough already.
The Jets coulda easily sucked for LAwrence as Indy sucked for Luck, but this just proves how incompetent this organization is, we can't even tank right. Until the Johnson's sell this team we will never get a competent coach or sniff a superbowl, thats just the reality of being a Jets fan, they do not know how to run a team. Lawrence will eventually be sorrounded by a good receiver core like the Jets have sorrounded Zack with and he will ball out while Zack will struggle to complete 1 yard passes and have his receivers cursing in disgust, this offseason some team will get desperate and throw a big contract at Mike White and once again Zack will be the starting Qb for the next 2 years. This organization's incompetency will never end. They have just adapted to misery for the us fans. We as fans are so used to losing that when we have a .500 record we call it a success and pat ourselves on the back for "competing". In Year 2 Lawrence will pass for over 4000 yards with maybe 30 tds. He has 24 tds and 7 picks while Zack has 6 tds and 6 picks. But hey as Jet fans claim on this board maybe Zack will finally get it in the next 10 years. Our slogan should be "there is always next year".
I owe an apology to Trevor Lawrence. Like Josh Allen as a prospect, I loved Lawrence but then my fandom and realization that he would not be a Jet took over and I found things to fault. Looking like he’s gonna be a great one…
The question needs to be asked, will this strikingly memorable two year cotton anniversary be properly commemorated by Zach putting in a hard day's work on Meadowlands fields, resulting in some fresh picks? From the NFL's perspective, it makes perfect dollars and sense for a QB like Trevor Lawrence to be displaying his wares in front of one of the smallest NFL markets, instead of the largest one. Just like it is ideal for the NFL to have a potentially inferior player to Lawrence end up in a huge market which does not need the marketing help of a Jacksonville. When operating under such a business model, best not to leave such "personnel decisions" to chance.
Add salt to the wound . Do we really need to be reminded every freaking time of the meaningless game two years ago and the dismal period under Gase and Co. i rather look forward to another great draft, free agency and a jump in wins next year.
We're sad because we didn't become the third team in history to go 0-16. Yet we were still in prime position at #2 in most trade crazy draft of the last 20 years. Its not that we didn't tank. Its that we choose to use our golden pick on the biggest reach in the draft, instead of cashing out with SF or Phily, and setting us up for years. Not only was it a dumb reach. It was dumb to rush into another top 3 QB when we didn't even have a roster to support the reach. Miami got Waddle and Hill. Phily got Smith and Brown. We got Zach Wilson. It had nothing to do with beating the Rams.
Sorry, but his is baloney. We have had great chances to draft a superstar QB and we have blown it. Not drafting DeShaun Watson was dumber than dumb, and I felt that way at the time. Mahomes I believe was also still available at that slot and I also thought he would have been good, though I admit to being a Watson guy at the time. We took Darnold over Allen or Lamar Jackson, I cant say in hindsight that I wanted Allen, but that's what the great GMs are paid to figure out. I knew I did not want Darnold. The Zach pick is not looking good right now, but it is still unclear who might have been better at that slot given that it was going to be a QB. Maybe, Lawrence will turn out to be the only real QB star in that draft. Point is, is that we have had chances in the last few drafts and blown them. When you have had chances you cant cry because we werent handed the no-brainer pick.
This guy never should have left the Jets draft department: https://www.si.com/nfl/jets/news/ne...quarterback-fiasco-after-drafting-zach-wilson
We could have had Justin "Freaking" Fields. That was the original mock after we blew the tank job. Fields destroyed Clemson and looked very respectable against a great Alabama team in a COVID season. I'm over Lawrence, but how good would Fields look? How did Zach climb the ranks again? Was it the Pro Day? I'm just confused and a bit drunk. I can't believe Zach is literally this bad. He's had a couple opportunities for redemption and he just kept crapping the bed. Someone has to answer for this. Zach can't be on this team next season. I know it's not my money. Pay him to go away. It's not even like he's broken ala Carson Wentz. It's just he fucking sucks and always has.
Read the SI article above. Zach threw 33 TDs and 3 INTs playing against High School level competition in front of cardboard humans during Covid-19. I wonder if Kyle Shanahan really wanted Trey Lance or Mac Jones and threw out Zach Wilson as a fake-out so the Jets wouldn't take Trey or Mac.
