In a nutshell, Francesa says Jets fans have LOTS to look forward to with Mangini as coach. Says it only a matter of time before Mangini Jets are legitimate championship contenders for a 3 or 4 year run. Basically says Giants have too many crybabies (ie Shockley, Plaxico), says Eli brings zero leadership to team, thinks Coughlin will be back as a lame duck coach.
I usually don't get riled up about sporting events (even with the Jets involved) but I find myself yelling at the screen when they show Eli standing on the sideline like a wet towel. I don't even care if the Giants win or lose but the way he stands there doing nothing gets me crazed. Go talk to someone (i.e., your lineman, o-coordinator, RBs, WRs, SOMEONE), cheer your defense, look at pictures, go get TIki some Gatorade, DO SOMETHING PLEASE. Its painful to watch him.
He's brought up an interesting debate now with Chad. It boils down to this: Can the Jets build a 5-year championship run with Chad as the QB. He said he's not sure now because that may be too much of a physical limitation coming from the QB position. For me, I'm not sure if Chad can even stay healthy for the next 2 years.
well he does talk to Shockey, Burress, Tiki, etc and look at the pictures but they never show him doing that because they always just want to show Eli when he's not doing anything so they can support the "Eli has no emotion" topics. im not saying Eli has a lot of emotion, but he does know the game and does what he needs to on the sideline. you dont think we have enough people voicing their opinions on the Giants sidelines?
do you have a chrystal ball? how can you say he is a bust when he has led his team to the playoffs in back to back years, the first time a Giants team has done that since like 86
There's a big difference between roaming the sidelines like a madman ala Shockey and standing there like some catatonic mouth breather as Eli does. There has to be some middle ground.
Eli does what he does but is not a talker. i admit he does need to be able to go and tell people to shut up and play sometimes but he didnt feel that was his place. he felt Tiki was the team leader and he was the one that would do all the talking. i hope this year he can take over some leadership, but as long as we win...
he could be a good QB even if he isnt but he needs to become a leader for his sake and so Shockey and Burress dont complain. what i think Eli needs to become a good QB is better coaches. Coughlin probably will stay for his last year of his contract unless the new GM wants to clear house. but we could use a new QB's coach if Gilbride stays OC
A) Mike is a lifelong Giants fan. He only rooted for the Jets when Parcells was coaching. B) Is anyone else shocked at how inaccurate a passer Eli Is? He needs a dome like his big bro. Even when he hits his own guys, they can't make a play because they have to reach for the ball.
Manning's last drive of the season was impressive. Not sure how much Giants' fans can take from that.
he is inaccurate at times but other times he can be very accurate. his throw off his back foot to plax on 2nd and 30 for 18 yards was accurate, his throw to plax in OT vs the eagles in week 2 are just a few examples
