That's the real kick in the teeth here. We wasted a playoff run on a. guy who shouldn't even be in the starting lineup. I'm not even sure Wilson's qualified to be the backup. He's easily the worst QB we currently have on the roster, yet he's the only player on the team who can't be benched for poor play.
Mac Jones played in the same wind against a Much better defensive unit and managed to go 20/27 passing. You’re going to find this week when the tapes are out and analysts review there were receivers open all game. You could even see them on tv. All NE did was commit to stop the run and cover the first option passing. All Zach had to do was be mentally competent to get to the 2nd read and make a good throw. Mildly adequate QB play and we win this game going away 20-3 or better. When Zach throws a lazy sidearm pass unbalanced to Mims on the sideline facing no pressure and sails it, a coach should be screaming in his face. He needs to be humiliated into reality. This is a silver spoon kid that’s never faced adversity or consequence in his life. Parcells, for example, would have lit his ass on fire. Td oE thing that’s he’s not mentally processing the field, it’s another to have such casual lazy mechanics. Especially when you humiliate Mims and Moore as much as they have. It’s a double message and it’ll divide a team real fast.
Never has a team needed less out of their quarterback than the jets did today, and yet he still could not give the team enough. He should have been benched. No question. The object is to win the game.
Not taking a victory lap, but I urged the jets on this board NOT to draft Wilson. He had one good college season against a creampuff schedule. He hasn't shown squat! Today was a COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT. Wilson looks like a scared 15 year old kid back there. He is too short, he can't read defenses, has no touch, and has HAD enough time already. I wonder what his biggest pre-draft cheerleader Chris Simms will say about him tomorrow. It is not FAIR to the other 52 players busting their butt to have Wilson, clearly the worst QB of the jets 4 QBs, moving the jets BACKWARDS constantly!
This pretty much says it all. It's time to make a move at QB. Hand Flacco the reigns since he's been in this position before, competing for the postseason and all of that. Then if he falters, then see what you have in White. The rest of this team is too talented to be dragged down by one player. And the past couple of weeks should also show that Breece Hall is definitively the OROY. He bailed this offense out time and time again.
Wilson does NOT deserve to start next week, pure and simple. If he does, then we know the coaching staff is not doing its job or is being intimidated by Douglas.
Might be some combination of all the above. Douglas had an awful first draft, then a decent second draft. Now he's rollin with his 3rd. The only black marks on his draft records so far is Wilson and Becton. Becton was a miss but Zach was a #2 overall pick and he's the worst QB of all the QB's drafted in that class. Not a good look for Douglas. The CS has been gassing this kid up since day one a gifted him the starting job perhaps for PR reasons. Now they're in too deep to admit the mistake drafting Wilson was. That's why no matter what Wilson does, or how bad he plays, he will not be benched. Nor will his job as FQB ever be jeopardized by White or Streveler who outplayed both during Pre Season. We're stuck with Wilson until his contract is up. Then the FO/CS can part ways with Zach or knowing Douglas, trade him for a box of Legos.
People are so funny. What's Flacco's record with this team again? No one thought we would be in this position. Yet here we are, and now everyone wants us to dump the qb that helped put us here. Regardless of how bad this game was.(and it was FN bad), we are winning more whit him then without. So let's let him rock till the end of the season. If he becomes the reason we miss the playoffs, then at least we have a full body of work to judge him by. Best, Stealth
I hope Zach enjoys the $$ from his rookie contract, but I doubt he'll get another contract from the jets or anyone. Old timers like me can verify he looks like the second coming of Browning Nagle--high pick, canon arm, no touch, can't read a defense, and looks totally out of his league.
The coaching staff/organization is well on its way towards alienating not only the rest of the team, but the fans as well. When you do not bench the most important position player on the field for costing you two big losses in three games by stinking up the joint in royal fashion, you're not doing anybody any favors...least of all Zach...
Makes sense--let's punt on another season when we're finally close to the playoffs by keep playing the worst QB on our roster. Noticed Zach was asked after today's game if jets offense let the defense down, and Wilson, incredibly, said "No, no."
If there's any good news, it's that this isn't the 2015 Jets. The talent is young, so if we get a real QB next year, we can contend.
I know. And on the TV broadcast they don't even show anything deeper than 10 yards past the line. There were wide open receivers within 10 yards of the fucking line and Zach couldn't hit them.
It's not punting on the season, since most of our wins are with him at QB thus far. Yeah it's a bad loss, but you have to see what you have. Again, what is the other option, bring Flacco back in. Love those 300 yard games... oh and we lost those game too. Mike White? Your willing to bank the season on Mike White?
Enough with Wilson already. Go look at Daniel Jones numbers today in a fucking loss. Wilson hasn’t approached that in 20 games. All you Wilson lovers go down down to jersey and have Wilson drop his pants so you can press lips to his ass. You have to push Saleh and LaFluer out of the way first. He’s a fucking bust and your excuses are bullshit. And if they continue to play him it’s just a further example of organizational incompetence
I'm mostly out on Zach, but Jones' season-high this year was 217 yards, and his 344 today came with 2 interceptions. Zach threw for 350+ against New England last time, but it also came with interceptions.
