after the amazing season, and a great run near the tail end of the season. We fought well.

But there were clearly things that we need to work on
Address the needs of the Jets now, and who they should go for?

I personally feel we need to get D'brick a bit more chunkier and add more muscle on the O Line.
(pats won, because of a amazing OLINE)

we need to get a top notch pass rush or someone that can compliment vilma to stop the run

Getting bigger and stronger on the lines is the most important thing.

    I agree with that.

Running back is a close second.

Our O-Line needs to really get bigger. D'Brick needs to put on some weight and I believe he can be an outstanding LT. We also need to upgrade the RG position and get someone in there that can putsh people around. It seems like every great team has a great big O-Line that can really push people off the ball.

Also we need to add a feature running back like Michael Turner. He seems like he could be a really good back and I believe we need that before next season. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the RBBC unless you have two great backs like the Pats do. I believe having one running back take most of the carries is better for your O-Line and QB.

We also need to get a pass rushing LB. Like everyone has said we are never going to beat teams with good QB's if we have to bring everyone on every third down to get any pressure. We need that guy off the edge that can get 12 sacks in a season. I don't know where we will get that but we definitly need it.

One more position we need to upgrade is the #1 corner position. I believe that Dyson is a good #2 but we need that ballhawk type guy that will go up and get the ball.

  6. - Stronger on both lines
    - Better depth
    - More speed at LB

i think the offense can survive...

jets need to build their defense similar to the ravens did around vilma (ray lewis) and rhodes (ed reed).

Bigger stronger OL wont hurt but its far from the top need.

The top need is a 2nd back. Teams today either have one franchise level guy or a good committee. You guys have a poor committee. You need someone that can get those tough yards inside.

The run blocking is a much bigger need than finding an RB who can get those "tough yards". The reason it's been so difficult to get those "tough yards" isn't because of the RBs (Houston and Barlow are pretty decent at doing that), it's because the OL is not nearly strong enough, and gets blown off the line of scrimmage by a halfway decent DL. This need is magnified when playing a big, strong, elite DL like the Pats.

PLEASE PUT THIS ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE WEBSITE and make it our mantra!

Tweak the lines (see above), then go for a Brandon Jacobs, punishing-type clone. After that, we still need help at the corners. Leave everything else alone.

Make Chad compete against Clemens for the starting job.

    (not in a particular order)
    new right guard
find eventual successor to Kendall at left guard
    draft a right tackle
    running back
fullback (Ovie Mughelli if Baltimore does not resign him)
defensive lineman with one (or two) of their first three picks
a cornerback to start opposite Dyson or to at least compete with Poteat and Miller for that spot

    We need:
    OG
    RB
    DL
    FB
    DB

The good thing is that we aren't absolutely horrible at any position, so we don't have to draft need, we can draft BAP.

    Offense

RT is a huge need. Clements is old and a UFA. We need to fill this hole.

RG is another big need. Moore has been the weakest link on our OL this year including Clements.

LG will be a need in 2008. A mid to late round draft choice could improve our OL depth and give us a potential replacement for Kendall in two years.

RB is a major need. Leon Washington will be a great 3rd down back but we need an upgrade over cedric Houston.

TE is a pretty big need. Baker would be a good backup but we need a guy that can constistently move the chains.

FB is another need. We have no one on our roster who is any good here. Can Cederic Houston put on 25 lbs?

LT / C/ QB - we are set here unless we want to add depth.

    Defense

We could use a free agent CB (Clements or Samuels), the rest of our secondary should be ok.

We could use a DE or DT to compliment Ellis and Drob. Terrell Sands would be a good free agent to fit this need. Depth at DL could also use improvement

We need a pass rushing DE / OLB to replace Hobson. Vilma is a bit small for th 3-4 but I would hold onto him unless we got very good value in a trade. Our depth at LB could use a boost.

I think that we can get a DL, CB, OL, TE, and hopefully a FB in free agency.

In the draft we should be looking for OL, RB, and a pass rushing OL / DE on day one. Other than that I hope we take BPA.

offseason needs in no particular order

    1. a kickoff specialist--Nugent puts the other team on a short field every time.

    2. a running back--Leon works hard but he is more of a relief back--use a first day pick

    3. a speedy pass rusher--either OLB or DE

    4. Cornerback help

    5. more beef on the defensive line.

we don't need to draft/sign any QB, TE, WR, or safeties.

Pass rushing DE/OLB hybrid. Look at the Demarcus Ware's and Shawne Merriman's in the 3-4 defenses. Not easy to find, but hey, that's what we can use and 'need'.

A quality running back. Not just some big stiff like Kevan Barlow or something.

Add that to my list. Beefing the OL and improving the run blocking.

    Where do I begin...
#1. We need a road grater at Right guard (maybe tackle also). Somebody that is going to move the pile and open holes.
#2. We need a nose tackle. Somebody that will take up 2+ blockers on running plays.
#3. A running back that can carry the ball 20 + times a game and be able to move the pile when we need him to.
#4. A pass rushing ANIMAL at outside linebacker.
#5. A shutdown cover corner back that we could move anywhere and who will eliminate the oppositions best WR.
#6. A speed burner at WR. Somebody that can go the distance at any time. Add this to some play action and #'s 1 and 3...
We're 28 mil under the cap. We have 3+ picks in the first two rounds (thank you Washington) I am willing to give 3 years to any new coaching staff to build a winner. As I view it right now, after year one, we're in good shape. In my honest opinion, we have exceeded my wildest expectations this season. Hopefully, we can continue the trend.
