A whole post about the 2021 draft class being awful without a single mention of the elite OL who has played three positions in three weeks or the 2 in our 1-2 punch backfield or our starting slot corner who ranks among the best in the league. I understand why you left them out because if you mentioned them, you’d be proving yourself wrong… but come on man.
You’re correct, I completely overlooked AVT as part of the draft, and unlike a lot of others I do think the trade up for him was brilliant. Point taken, with AVT I definitely consider it a much better draft. If ZW becomes a franchise player then it’s a great draft. If not, at least we netted one all pro in it.
Clearly https://jetswire.usatoday.com/lists...-zach-wilson-alijah-vera-tucker-elijah-moore/ Seems like 6 picks rating from decent to great in that draft with a couple of hybrid safety/LB fails
I don't know that I'd agree with that, but it's certainly one of the best ever, and maybe the best in 25-30 years, if not more. The 2000 draft with Chad Pennington, Shaun Ellis, John Abraham, Anthony Becht, and Laveranues Coles was pretty great. The 2006 draft wasn't too shabby with D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, Leon Washington and Brad Smith. The 1977 draft was imo the best. It was comprised of Marvin Powell, Wesley Walker, Joe Klecko, Dan Alexander, Scott Dierking, Kevin Long, and Matt Robinson.
Welcome back NC. If we can get Garrett the ball more as he adjust and learn the NFL speed and experiences, he could be the prime go to guy.
That was one hell of a draft. A few years before I started following the Jets but so many were still big names on the team when I started being a fan in 1984.
With the major caveat being we're only a few games into their careers, yeah, this rookie class has been beyond amazing. With the exception of Ruckert, not only has every rookie contributed regularly, but they've each done so at a high level. Two of them look like they could be Pro Bowlers this year. I've never seen anything even close to like this before.
I'll take it haha the fact that we hit on a second rounder is a miracle in itself ... PS welcome back!
ESPN now ranks us as a Top 10 team, thanks to the infusion of talent from this year's rookie class: 9. New York Jets (4-2) Sauce Gardner and running back Breece Hall, in particular, have made such an impact that they have to be considered candidates for Defensive and Offensive Rookie of the Year, respectively. Gardner has eight pass breakups, one interception and has allowed only one reception in man coverage, per NFL Next Gen Stats. Hall replaced Michael Carter as the RB1 and is ninth in the league with 609 yards from scrimmage. Growing pains? Not at all. -- Rich Cimini
Breece Hall wins week 6 rookie of the week. https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/je...d-nfl-s-pepsi-zero-sugar-rookie-of-the-week-7 That makes 9 Jet winners out of the last 21 weeks.
I think that four out of six this year is a bigger accomplishment and a better look to the future, except that this is really just a popularity contest and the big NY market overpowers. The NFT/SI Rookie of the week went to Gardner even though they note they don't normally give two awards to the same team and QW1 got the defensive player of the week crown. Good things on the horizon?
