Zach was absolutely a stud and needs to be added as well as AVT in my opinion. Zach had three clutch passes that ended in the one yard line. Could have had three TAD, two for sure. I don’t agree Hall was a stud, that category is just not good enough for him . He was Superman yesterday.
ZW mostly delivered when called upon on Sunday. I think it might have been his best game as a Jet. He definitely needs to play it safer on the runs though. If Hall doesn't get tackled on the 1 twice it's nearly a perfect outing for ZW given what he was asked to do and those stops on the 1 only delayed TD's by a play.
Yes, I’m reading some good stuff on Herbig. We may be putting together a competent line under the most desperate circumstances. What a story that would be.
I'm not a ZW hater by any means but the majority of the issues I see with him right now are: (1) Inconsistent ball placement. He throws a lot of balls that are in theory "catchable" but makes it a tough catch frequently. This is often worse on short passes, which is why "in theory" high percentage passes like screens and swing passes not super high percentage. (2) He still needs to know when to take the heat off the ball and make touch throws. This combined with his inconsistent ball placement is a huge contributor to the drop problems our receivers have had the last two years. (3) Sometimes Zach tries to go for the big play when what we really need is to convert. While you do need your QB to take chances sometimes and not just be "Check down Charlie" you also can't kill your offensive efficiency always going for low percentage shots. That being said while he has a lot to work on he's showing a lot to like. Particularly when he has time to see the field he can be deadly, hopefully we can see more of that if/when the OL stabilizes.
I think inaccuracy on short range passes is mostly a byproduct of his natural quick release. He’ll need to teach himself when to turn it off and on - just not there yet.
Duds: Referees. That roughing that passer call was one of the most absurd calls I've seen in 20 years of watching football. Not only did he put his arm on the ground to partially break the fall, he had the football in his hands long before that, so the QB was a defender at that point. I don't know what they expect these players to do.
