LDT should absolutely be back. He was very good for us last year and if he’s backing up AVT then we are in pretty good shape on the interior of our OL. Call was fine, but if we are bringing him back that means Denzel Mims had a terrible camp. That could also be exactly what happens.

totally forgot Sheldon Richardson was still out there, I would sign him in a heartbeat. Rotational guy that can stop the run which is what we desperately need. At linebacker I would take any warm body at this point which kind of describes Anthony Barr. No clue how he fell off so badly but he’s really not a good player anymore.

I am all aboard the homerun swing train. Go sign honey badger.

Good comments and good dialogue…love it!

I’m with you on the Sauce pick….I was happy enough with Reed, Hall and Echols and thought that one of the OTs at 4 would’ve been the way I went.

with respect to Foley or Snacks…yes I get they had to get out in 2 years…perfect! That’s what I mean…we would be had the big run stuffed already and if we needed to renegotiate or cut in two years, that’s fine…but we wouldn’t have the hole now. That being said, this won’t be an issue if JD finds us a runstuffing DT and a decent swing OT before the season starts…that’s not impossible. I’m not sure Mitchell will be ready for that role this year, and Edoga hasn’t shown enough in three years, so I’m worried because I have zero faith in Becton. I hope Big Ticket proves me wrong.

    I’m all in on LDT

Cole would be fine but agree with the other comments that it would mean Mims busts out…which could very well happen

not sure what Sheldon has left at this point but if it’s reasonable I’d consider it

fuck Barr…he went back on his word once already…he’s dead to me (and he’s not done much lately anyway)

Honey Badger would top my list but we have about $7 mil in cap space after we sign the draft picks.

I say White and Hall get traded. If Rankins doesn’t look better, he’s not making the team.

    Hardey isn’t going anywhere.

I think Curry is a great addition to guide the rookies but idk if that merits a roster spot. Id keep Curry over Rankins…

    Agreed, enjoying the conversation.

The way I see it, if we spent that money on Foley who is a two down player would we have signed Whitehead or Reed? Both of whom are locked in starters on every down?

Also you have to look at the way this defense operates. They are rotating guys in and out nonstop on the DL. With a healthy Lawson and now Jermaine Johnson in the fold you have JFM kicked inside Who can play but the run and pass.Q isn’t going to be doubled nearly as much if all goes well and he can play both the run and the pass. It’s clear this coaching staff has a specific type and they want in the trenches on defense. I think they tried to do it last year but as soon as Lawson went down it all went to shit.

yeah good point on the rotation

I really hope though that we don’t move Hall…he’s been very good especially as a fifth rounder. And in the end I’m ok having more good corners…we are going to be facing Diggs and Hill twice…we need all the help we can get

JFM is a true tweener guy, he will play DE on run downs and rush the passer from inside. I don’t know if it really matters where you list him on a depth chart because he will play both.

Yeah I actually forgot about him, and I think Mike White will be traded so I’ll take him off and put Hardee back in

Full disclosure, I completely forgot about him yesterday in a thread talking about CBs so if someone didn’t correct me I’d have not even noticed.

I agree except Fatukasi. He wasn’t a great fit in this scheme

That depth chart is actually pretty exciting. Looks much better than recent seasons. You can still see the holes and where it needs to be improved, but there are much less holes than previous years.

You also have these guys like Mekhi Becton, Zach Wilson, Carl Lawson, and even Quinnen Williams, who can take this roster from good to great if they elevate their play to the level I believe they can, and stay on the field.

I'd be stunned if Mims makes the 53. Felt like he barely played last year and when he did, he looked like he didn't belong

Good projections, that's probably pretty close to how things will shake out, new additions aside.

3 areas that still need some offseason work, and I suspect may change:

    1) DL
I notice you didn't have Sheppard on the 53, but I think he makes the team as he's the only 2 gapper besides Rankins on the roster, and Rankins can't handle a 5 tech let alone the Nose.
I think we need 2 more IDL players as well.
Kyle Phillips to me is a no brainer re-sign opportunity. He's 25, cheap, and has a knack for playing behind the LOS in run support.
Then I'd bring in one more veteran stop gap.
There's plenty of ex-Jet run stoppers available in Sheldon Richardson, Steve McLendon, and Mike Pennel who would all be cheap options.

    2) LB
We cannot go into this season with that LB crew.
Enough with banking on Safeties to play LB.
Bring in on more veteran at minimum. Kwon Alexander was just in for a visit, so that's a possibility.

    3) S
I'm hoping Pinnock can make the conversion, but we shouldn't bank on it considering Davis's struggles.
We could be an injury away from 2021 all over again.
Would love to see one vet brought on for depth and competition, or big game hunt for Mathieu.

Could make a great case for G/C swing player also.

Spot on except I would put JFM as IDL. I would like them to pick up Kwon Alexander LB.

I think Zuerlein beats Piniero for the kicking job. Aside from that, I pretty much agree with the roster. Best roster since 2015 IMO (though still nowhere near as good as the AFC Championship rosters), we'll see if Zach can do anything with it.

    Agreed on Zuerlein.
I’m hoping he follows the Nick Folk path of leaving Dallas and having a career resurgence here in NY.
