We have his QB coach here, he is still young, and he's proven he can make the plays to win in this league. Well I think I know the answer to my own question and it's the shoulder. Do we really want to mess with another shoulder after getting burned by Pennington? The shoulder scares the hell out of me. However if Saban doesn't have a problem with it maybe we shouldn't either. I don't know I just have a feeling before it's all said and done we may make a run at him. The Schottenheimer connection is too much for me to ignore. I don't know just throwing it out there to see what you guys think.
How do any of us know we are not in the running for Brees? The rumors change hour by hour around the NFL guessing game, yet nobody actually knows what is going on for a fact until it happens.
The only reason why I would imagine we are not in the running for Brees is because... A: We already have a QB with a screwed up shoulder... B: Brees will be getting a big time contract from a team like the Vikings, dolphins or Saints who are desperate for a QB... JMHO
A smokescreen by Tangini is making everyone try to guess whats happening. My prediction......we trade the #4 pick while we are on the clock like an Eli Manning kind of deal the Chargers got.......we trade for Ramsay this year and draft a QB in the second. If Chad doesn't work out this year we trade the farm for a franchise QB next year.........
isn't one QB with an f'd up shoulder enough. Personally i dont see y anyobody wouldn't think kerry collins would be a good QB over here.
We dont have already learned about giving big deals to QB's coming off Shoulder injuries. It doesnt work out in the end. Although Pennington has been through 2 shoulder surgeries i think if we bring in Leinart Pennigton will be more motivated and could have a good season. Then in a year or 2 we could use him as a backup to Leinart the the Bengals did with Kitna.
Brees sucks. Period. Like Leinart. Brees, Mediocre QB, with best TE, and Best RB in football. See also, Duante Culpepper, with no Moss.
I still like Brees, and I would love to see him here. I don't think it will happen though. More and more though, I would rather go with Penny, Bolly, and a drafted QB. My preference is Croyle later in the draft, while doing other things with the picks, but Cutler in round 1 is just fine by me.
I keep hearing Ferguson is the closest thing to sure thing and is the best prospect since Pace, and i want him just to play it safe. We would probably get screwed anyway
Damn Lienart, why doesn't he have better arm strength. Listen, almost everyone here including myself would cringe with the thought of another QB coming in here off an injury. Just doesn't make sense. So no Brees and no Culpepper. I don't want a retread either. So no Ramsey and no Collins. I think we are going to go the draft route of as far as the QB situation is concerned. The reason I say that is; we could have gotten a head coach that has been in the league that someone else didn't want. Instead we got somebody new, and we are cutting all these aging vets. Why do we want someone else's throwaway. I'm tired of buying the 1993 Ford Taurus. I want that new car smell. We need to draft a QB.
we here the samething every year with a olineman comparisons dont mean anything . there arent any more paces and ogdons. Ferguson gonna be ferguson and no one knows what that is yet. everytime we draft its a risk .. there are no sure things in the draft
Maybe after Brees tests the market he decides he wants to sty in SD and THEN SD decides it's time to trade Rivers. And we get him. It wouldn't be my dream scenario, but it seems more likely than Brees coming here.
i dunno man. after reading that breees article there bad blood between brees and the gm. i dont see SD as a option for him no more
Brees will never play in SD again. The GM is the one who made sure Brees went into the FA pool. The coaching staff wanted to keep him desperately. The GM wants Rivers to play, since he traded away Eli for him. It's about saving face for him at this point. It's like a Millen on the west coast.
