I found a draft profile for a guy who can be had with a 5th round pick. He sounds exactly like the receiver a lot of you want. He doesn’t have a large route tree but neither does Burks and we wouldn’t have to burn a 1st.

    STRENGTHS

    —Three years of big-time production.

—Explosive wide receiver with a big (6'3) frame

—Downfield speed is good enough to beat cornerbacks in-phase.

—Catch radius is excellent thanks to length, body control and leaping skills; prep basketball days show up on the gridiron

—Will go up and attack 50-50 balls.

—Immediate speed off the line of scrimmage and will run past defenders.

—Isn't afraid of contact, whether it's run-after-catch or on jump balls.

—Talented all-around athlete with big developmental potential.

    WEAKNESSES

—More of an athlete than a wide receiver; raw as a route-runner.

—High-cut runner who doesn't sink into routes or mix up his movements; must win with speed.

—Ran a limited number of routes in college and will have to develop on the fly in the pros.

—For a speed player, isn't a threat to pick up major yards after the catch.

I've seen enough of the Jeff Smyths of the world, that I like the idea of a developmental WR in the later rounds. But this mystery man sounds far less advanced and to compare him to Burks is frankly not fair to either.

My guess is this is George Pickens? If so, I’ve seen a pretty big spread as to where he will get selected.

I also have some intel on him from someone who coached him that said he’s a giant piece of shit (his words, not mine) so take that for what you will. But that dude can definitely go up and get the rock.

No, just no. A 5th round WR would be zero help to Zach and the Jets this year, if ever. The Jets scheme calls for their WRs to get YAC. If he isn't likely to get YAC, then he isn't a scheme fit and why would they want him?

He doesn't even sound like he might be a possibility for the 2nd WR, bmuch less as the only WR. That's just crazy.

I like Wilson but Burks is an absolute perfect fit for this offence. He’s literally a bigger version of Deebo Samuel and YAC is what this offence is built on.

The only names I can think of would be George Pickens, Alec Pierce, or Jalen Tolbert.

    Jalen Tolbert. Final Answer.

A WR in the 5th sounds good to me... As long as they also make an investment in another much earlier. I wouldn't call drafting a WR at #10 as 'burning' a pick. That could be a fundamental piece for Zach and the offense.

    Pickens won't be a 5th round pick.
