I was just thinking....imagine we're at the 50 yard line and finally decide to run a trick play with Brad Smith, and brad gets the hand-off and throws a bomb all the way to the end zone for a TD.

I don't know if Brad Smith can throw the ball farther than Chad but I would not be surprised. I just think it would be funny if we ran a trick play to our WR and he made a throw that our franchise starting QB can't make.

I don't really care much about Chad's arm strength, and I am not gonan get into analyzing it because we are winning. But you can bet that if that happened, everyone would be commenting on it, and how "they must have got Smith to throw it because Pennington couldn't have gotten it that far" or something...

This would be a great time to bust that play out... preferably if we take an early lead... that could be crippling.

I'm fairly certain we will see a number of trick plays in this game. These teams know each other massively well and are too well prepared to have anything normal catch them by surprise. I expect the Jets to have some since they're a little less talented than the Patriots, and may need a little boost from a play like that. I would also love for the special teams to contribute in some key way. There is no doubt that the Pats are supposed to win this game, and we need to find ways to keep them guessing.

Mangini made this playbook months ago. He pulled it out of the safe, blew off the dust and smirked.

I'm telling you, Mangini & Westhoff are sitting on a Ben Graham fake punt or field goal one of these games. With no guarantee there will be tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised to see it used in this game vs. NE. Ben will then use his best Aussie Rugby skills and run over/stiff arm his opponent.

I can see penny and leon pulling off the statue of liberty in the redzone...especially since we like those fades that never work...it would look like a fade to cotch and then he backhand hands it off to the little guy. Leon scores and I jump off the couch and pull a groin or something...yeah baby

a halfback option pass from Brad Smith? I would think Belichick probably went over that play coming from the Jets about 50 times already this week.

I heard a few times that Brad Smith arm strength isn't that strong either which is why he wasn't drafted to be qb in this league. I dont know if Brad Smith arm would be strong enough from the fifty to throw a bomb.

u dont need that much arm strength.....and i saw his highlight tape while in college.....he's arm is good enough for that type of play......honestly arm strength is really overrated in my book....its a gadget play

Yeah man whatever it takes. I was watching youtube videos too. He could probably run it for 50 yards as well. Everybody take a look

I have a feeling they practice this play and it doesn't work in practice so they scrap it on sundays. Running this play against the Pats, you know they would be prepared for it. Surprising Smith hasn't thrown a pass all year, hopefully that changes next year.

I'm intrigued as well with the Brad Smith possibilities. We haven't seen much since the Bye and I'm hoping that was because we were saving some of them for now. Hell, just the insertion of Brad Smith has to get their DEF worrying about covering him.
