Those are post sack exchange coslet era unis. Much brighter shade of green with black trim. Jets totally fucked up a classic look.
I like the black unis but I am in the U.K. and have only been following the jets for about 15 years so much of the history before that doesn’t really resonate with me. What I do HATE is losing. They could play in sparkling pink and silver for all I care as long as our owners/management could deliver a winning team.
these are the uni’s they wore when I started watching in the late 70’s, so I definitely have a soft spot for them. BUT…it’s only nostalgia objectively speaking, they’re terrible… that plain block JETS logo with the stupid line/plane is like a kindergarten doodle. Awful…I loved the uni but always hated the helmet…like ZERO imagination. Such a cool name like the Jets, we could’ve had a killer logo off of that. I also LOVE the old Namath football NY logo…. could’ve kept that but that stupid boring shit, like…hum…we can’t think of ANYTHING so we’re just gonna write the words Jets on the helmet…hold on, I’ll get my 7 year old to design a nice script awful…like worst in the league awful…
Yeah... the bass player for the Mothers of Invention designed the Sack Exchange era uniform... or at least the swoosh helmet logo. Can't remember his name but he worked for the Jets
I don't mind the 80s helmet logo, but I agree, it's not the most imaginative logo I've ever seen. If they can't come up with something better, I prefer they go back to the original logo - at least there's nostalgia with that. But I'm still waiting for a really clever logo. I'm not an artist so I can't produce one, but I think something like the Eagles helmet that has wings emanating from the front and going back to each side, or the Rams with the horns doing a similar thing, or the Chargers with their lightning bolts. So a pair of fighter jet wings sweeping back from the middle of the helmet? Leave the word "Jets" off it - the image should be enough.

I always thought this was a VERY underrated version of the uni and I especially liked the all white version

The 80s one is hot crap too… the Namath era football logo is what we should have kept…our old uni’a were fine just fix the shade of green and we would’ve been golden

I like the current colors. The current logo just needs "something else" as demonstrated in Acad23's post. Needs to show motion or something. We all have different tastes but I dislike ANY black piping. I hated it during the Boomer/ Kotite/ Lott era and I hate it now. The black outline made the logo seem smaller to me. Did not stand out enough. The current "new" uniforms remind me too much of that era of terrible Jets football. That said, while I do not like or understand the need for black outlines around the numbers or logo, I do like the all-black version of their current jersey because in all-black there's no stupid piping trim. It also makes the beautiful green helmet really "pop".
