Tom Pelissero on Twitter: "Former #Raiders coach Jon Gruden is suing the NFL and Roger Goodell in Nevada district court, alleging they sought to destroy Gruden’s career and reputation through a “malicious and orchestrated campaign” that led to his resignation last month, Gruden’s attorney tells me." / Twitter
Keep your popcorn ready, because this could get good. Unless the NFL settles quickly, pre-trial discovery is likely to reveal who leaked the emails and whether the NFL had any role in the leaks. Gruden's attorneys may also get access to the other 650,000 emails the NFL reviewed. I'm sure Gruden is just salivating at the thought of his attorneys grilling Roger Goodell under oath at a deposition. There are many tight assholes at 345 Park Avenue tonight!
I find it hard to believe the only emails that were bad in that many of them were just his. There had to be others.
I guess they thought Chucky would slink away with the payout he got on the remainder of his contract. The league won't let those emails become public. Burn after reading...
The purpose of the NFL investigation was to look into any sexual harassment and a toxic workplace of the former Washington Redskins team who now is known as the Washington Football Team (WFT). By the way, when will we ever get a full detailed report? All we got was Beth Wilkinson's oral report, the team paying a 10 million dollar fine (probably to pay for the investigation), and transfer of ownership to Snyder's wife. The fact that immediately after the Gruden leak, DeMaurice Smith's reelection just got the minimum 22 votes needed to retain his NFLPA position, makes you wonder about coincidences for sure. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Gruden was fed to the liberal media as a sacrificial lamb. The powers that be picked just the right emails that showed remarks that were racist, homophobic, and misogynistic. They knew that these emails would divert the attention of the liberal media towards Gruden and away from the NFL and the WFT. However, this may come to bite them in the ass if other emails are uncovered showing them also to be making the same type of remarks. Unfortunately today journalism is a joke. You are given opinion versus the news today. You do have nonliberal media, but unfortunately, this media is trying to brainwash you to the right instead. A real journalist would realize that that the Gruden leaks were a ploy by the NFL to divert attention elsewhere. Why was Gruden's emails leaked and who benefited should be the questions asked? In the meantime, how did Bruce Allen ever read 650,000 emails!
One of these gigantic public black eyes is going to turn into government involvement. Not that I want it but when sports gambling became legal, it created a monster special interest in Las Vegas that has immensely deep pockets. Poor management by an ownership element that collects the insane amount of money that the NFL does is going to get under the skin of people that weren't legal players in this situation 10 years ago.
OK, I did some backreading on past and present headlines. What Gruden said was bad, but I'm at a little bit of a loss as to why he was singled out when you know there are plenty of bad apples in the NFL all the way down the line. Don't anyone take that as defense of Gruden's words, but it definitely sounds like an inside job. I admit I'm missing as to exactly why. I can see this being stonewalled in the Courts for years.
That's an interesting take. It's not as crazy as it sounds on the surface. I'm sorry I missed this before posting. I guess inside job has more than one level of meaning. If you think about it, I don't see the point of the NFL putting themselves at risk on purpose by squeezing him out. I expect Gruden to spill a lot of beans. Hopefully we get something on the Cheats, haha.
