Then sign Cam Newton I guess…just don’t want to trade away picks for a QB marginally better than Mike White
This team is ruining football for me as a viewer, I couldn't imagine it as a player. I went to watch my old HS's varsity team play this Friday and that was more entertaining than almost every Jets game over the last 3 years.
Right, I wouldn't do that. The move to make was signing Beathard or Mullens in the offseason. Both come from the 49ers and should have a grasp of LaFleur's playbook.
Plan? hahaha that's funny. Based on what we've seen, why would anyone think there's a plan? They will ride White until he gets hurt or Wilson comes back, whichever comes first. I guess that's a plan, let's call it "lambs to the slaughter".
The plan should have been on the roster entering training camp. I've not been happy that we didn't have someone to even roll Zach through on how to prep for an NFL start, never mind some form of competition. No assets to be given up please, let's just lose these next games with grace and keep giving our young players reps. Take that high pick and trade out of it and build the asset base for more years to come. Roll on Mike I'm excited white. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
The only thing that they can do, and the only thing that they should do, is ride with Mike White until either the end of the season or until Wilson returns. There's no point to give up any further assets to go get another QB in order to try to save what has already become a lost season. Just ride out the string with what we have and hope that Geno Smith continues to lead the Seahawks towards a top 5 pick as well.
It's too bad our owners are truly incompetent and wouldn't start White the last portion of last year so we landed Lawrence--you know a QB talent that's only available once every 30 years or so...
I honestly don't think Lawrence is that good. I do think he's a franchise QB, and I'd rather have him than Wilson, but the odds are still against him being elite.
Without Zach the team is unwatchable for the rest of this season, but competitively the season is over, anyway. At least we have 2 1sts and 2 2nds to look forward to in the draft.
PCL strain per Zach. Probably a few weeks, no surgery. Edit: that second bit wasn't from Zach, it was from Dr Chao, medicine woman.
I will say this about Mike White. At least he showed what a Jet QB should be doing, hitting the open guys underneath and letting them make plays. Yes, he got intercepted twice but that's to be expected for a guy who never appeared in a pro game before, was down by more than 3 scores, and playing against a BB defense that could just sit back and play the pass all second half.
Yeah I thought he played OK given the situation…He was atleast competent and made good decisions. Doesn’t seem to have a great arm or anything but we’ll see. We also have Josh Johnson as an option.
I think the way he moves in the pocket and throws with anticipation is that of someone in year 3--at least from the most recent games. I agree with you though--the Jags will have to make big changes to ever be a winning team
Because LaFleur's playbook has worked so well? An outsider, like Newton, could force the Jets out of what has not worked since after today it looks like LaFleur has no intention of changing anything on his own.
Agree about Josh Johnson. In fact, I think he would be the best option going forward if Wilson can't play. Johnson brings experience, good mobility and a strong arm to the cause. Johnson would give the Jets a chance to win a game, whereas White would just be a place holder until Wilson returned.
Hire Lane Kiffin and draft Corral. The 2022 Jets would at least be interesting. Kiffin would love the challenge of the NFL again and the Jets have got to be the most appropriate team for him. (outside of the Raiders but he already tried that)
