www.espn.go.com They have KC on the front of the website...the team that backed their way into the playoffs needing help from other teams. How are the Jets not on there! Plus none of them are giving the jets a chance.
I wonder if he's gonna have a presser to show everyone his letter inviting on the playoff bus again... that would be a hoot!!!
First, there is no such thing as backing in. If you have one of the 6 best records, you make the playoffs. Winning the last game doesn't count more than winning the first. Second, the Jets were the lead NFL story and the picture on the ESPN web page all day yesterday.
I totally disagree but still see your point, however, if your playoff fate depends on what other teams do you're backing in... Now I know that can be said for alot of teams but I still think it's a valid point... KC did win their game so it's not a total back in I guess, but they still needed San Fran to beat Dever at home to get in... I'm still shocked THAT happened...
I rather not be on the front of ESPN, or really anything media related. I like proving people wrong, so when they don't give us recognition early, the Jets can prove them wrong when they play the game. I'm surprised the Jets made the back cover of the Daily News today. Well, I kind of had the feeling they were going to, but I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up to see on the back cover something along the lines of "The Giants make the playoffs at 8-8!!"
People should probably take to heart Mangini's reaction to this, which is no doubt to completely ignore it. And for the record, I certainly think there is such a thing as backing in, and the Chiefs didn't do it, since they won the game they had to win. Were they lucky, of course, but that's not the same as backing in. The ultimate in backing in is when you have a win and you're in game, you lose, and you get in anyway, which is what would have happened yesterday to the Jets if they had lost. To me the distinction between how the Jets got in by winning, and how they would have gotten in even though they lost, is obvious.
Yea, I'm pretty sure the reason we aren't on it is because they wanted one player from each game, and Brady probably has the most popularity amongst players on either team.
Yeah, we were all over the ESPN main page and NFL page yesterday, and there's a vid on the right side. We're in the playoffs, who cares what ESPN thinks anyway??
I don't get all the "where's our respect" fuss. Honestly, what do we care what others think of our team. I'd rather go in a virtual nobody and blow the doors off teams so I can watch people stand around and scratch their heads. They don't want to shine some spotlight on us? Good. Easier for our team to focus and gives them something to play for.
The Jets were the headline on NFL.com all day yesterday and they were the headline on espn.com before KC got a playoff berth. Meanwhile, I'm happy to see Herm in the playoffs. I don't hate him - I'm just very happy he isn't the Jets coach anymore. I think it's funny that he is doing in KC exactly what he did in NY and against the Colts - everything comes full circle. Plus I can't stand the Broncos. Shanahan, John Lynch, and Champ Bailey all annoy the hell out of me. Good luck to Herm - the farther he goes in the playoffs, the better chance the Jets get to play him in the post-season. How amazing would that be?
You say that as if he did that here. There's NO SUCH thing as backing in, you either win the games you need to win or you don't.
