I finally watched some of Mac against the Giants and saw exactly what you saw. Poise, in an absolute sprint like Chad used to be on wide running plays just to get the ball to the back and great fluttering touch on everything.
Cam Newton cut. I didn't post the link because the ads were total pollution. Anyway, it looks like Mac Jones will most likely start.
Mac Jones's stats any way you look at them are almost identical to Tua's at Alabama. If New England can protect Jones like they did in the preseason any QB will look good. But I'm betting that Jones will see a lot more pressure in the regular season. Take a lot more hits and look more like Tua did last year. We're going to get Zach vs Mac and Zach vs Sam and also Zach vs Tua, Zach vs Burrow, Zach vs Hurts, Zach vs Lawrence. Lots of young QBs this year. I suspect we'll see lots of busts. Hopefully, Zach is the best of the young QBs. I can't wait for this season.
Real name is Mccorkle I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there will never be a good NFL player with the first name Mccorkle he should try accounting or insurance sales instead
If the 5th QB chosen turns into a great FQB a year after losing an all-time great FQB then yeah that's remarkable good fortune. Nobody has figured out how to predict someone will be a great QB. I think the odds are against the Pats. The odds say Mac is more likely to be a bust. The media has lost their minds obsessing over preseason and practice stats.
Hey remember that conspiracy guy that kept saying Darnold will never be great because of his name? Duh-duh-duh-Darnold.
I actually think the Pats are less likely to get the most out of Jones than many other teams would get. The reasoning is as follows: 1. He's following Tom Brady and those are some big shoes to fill. Even if he's decent early on the comparison will be unfavorable. 2. Bill Belichik did something very un-Belichikian and very un-Patriot Way this offseason. He signed a bunch of average to above-average vets to contracts worth more than the players deserved. In retrospect he was trying to assemble a veteran team around a young QB - he just didn't know for sure who that young QB was going to be. Jones was always fairly likely to make it down to his pick but he didn't know that for sure when he spent all the moola on the vets in free agency. 3. This means that even if Jones works out to whatever extent he does the talent around him will be dropping out over the next few seasons. The Mark Sanchez Factor. 4. Karma is a bitch and Belichik and the Patriots have lot of it coming there way at this point.
I hope you're right about the talent around him. Right now that O-line looks pretty solid. I watched the highlights of the Pats / Giants preseason game and you can already see where Jones will struggle. Notice how big a pocket he's getting in the preseason versus these 2nd and 3rd stringer D-linemen. Notice how long he's holding the ball and the sacks he's taking. Now in real games he'll take real hits and get even more pressure. Not sure he'll survive very long like that.
So the Jets have been going about this all wrong. Instead of developing Sam Darnold, all they have to do was get him to change his name to Sam Striker.
His name was Dick Hammer and he was a man among smaller men. An Olympian who was such a stud that while he was a volunteer fireman the Hollywood people were just like "here is your own TV show." No homo.
