7. End game: The defensive end crop is a little better than expected if you include John Abraham of the Jets, who will probably go to the Broncos or Falcons in a trade. Darren Howard and Aaron Kampman should easily get more than $4 million a year after seeing that type of contract go to Orpheus Roye of the Browns, Kyle Vanden Bosch of the Titans and Raheem Brock of the Colts. The Packers are trying feverishly to keep Kampman in Green Bay. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2362340 (scroll down) No mention of the Lions.
What does John Clayton get paid for, surfing messageboards? Honestly, ESPN pitches their talking heads fairly well, but with all that access they have, you'd think that they might be able to get at least ONE scoop every now and then. -X-
Millen may be dumb, but that deal would've been outrageous. I wouldn't mind settling for Atlanta's 15th overall, or maybe both of Denver's first rounders.
To get atlantas 15 you are going to have to give them a pick back prolly like your 3rd rounder. There is no way in hell Denver is going to give you both thier 1st rounders for Abe!!!! You will get the 29th pick and that is about all mark that down.
Clayton isn't that bad. Granted he is a dork, and sometimes is just a talking head. But 85-90% of the time I would trust him over many of the beat writers out there.
Right, but it's not as if he's groundbreaking. He doesn't do anything, he's not particularly insightful, he just parrots everything that's out there. Actually, that's funny, since he looks like the Tootsy Pop Owl. All his "scoops" are secondhand. -X-
Broncs are in a worse cap position that the Jets. It's going to be tougher to keep the 22nd and sign Abe than keep the 29th and sign Abe. Don't be sure so you would ship the 29th pick vs. the 22nd.
