With a much better team, they'd have a very difficult, if not impossible, task of trying to get an elite QB. The QB HAS to be take first.
Again, I'm not suggesting they should do this. But of this deal presented itself, I would have to serious think about it. I want either Wilson or Fields.
I'd do it. I also have no faith in Rhule or that roster being some sort of 12-5 division winner so I'd imagine they're picking in the teens again next year. Their whole "defense only" draft while letting Samuel walk and not taking a receiver last year didn't seem to make much sense. I wonder if they'll go all offense this year.
lol apparently not. landry isn't a "slot guy" he's a versatile. this is from PFF "Landry also joins Davante Adams and Justin Jefferson as the only receivers in the NFL to generate more than two yards per route run from both the slot and on the outside this year." OBJ has been dealing with injuries but when healthy OBJ is a top 3 WR in the NFL easily. Brown isn't. he's a great WR. above average WR1 easily top 15, maybe top 10 but not OBJ levels of talent
I will change my ranking. I want Justin Fields ahead of Zach Wilson. Why? While I think wilson might be more 'pro ready' in term of his reads and ability to change arm angles. In the end you want the best talent and I believe Fields is the best raw talent. He has the canon of the arm with great accuracy and he is an amazing runner. I do believe it would be lazy scouting to overlook his talent because of his tendency to lock on his target. It's down to the coaching staff to maximize his talent and make it right. He will have to adjust to the NFL speed but I don't see why he could not. I think he will also open more the playbook with more run option possibilities due to his running abilities. I do think there are more risk associated with Zach Wilson and in the end the potential when you compare then both is a wash or slight advantage to Fields. There you go!
Wow... I'm days behind as usual and working through this thread but that play is deceptively incredible isn't it.
Yeah, because the 9ers have no chance in drafting a FQB this year... I truly want to scratch my fucking eyes out of my skull after reading any of your posts.
I think we need to file the 49'ers QB presumptive pick under the "very difficult" category rather than the "impossible"
i agree. But my take is IF the rest if your team is pretty solid the chances that QB pick succeeds is exponentially greater. I’m not saying keep Sam, quite frankly I don’t give a shit. His time is over. I’m saying in this game of what comes first ‘chicken or the egg?’ Team strength comes before rolling the dice on a maybe, potential, needs to grow and develop QB. That’s at least a year away for the Jets. At least. So, if that means let Darnold go 4-12 this year. So be it. Or trade him for a bag of balls and see what Morgan is... probably 3-13. So what? Build, really BUILD a fucking strong franchise. I used to say the Jets were the NFL version of the Clippers, but now the Clippers laugh at the shit storm the Jets are. BUILD IT, JD.
someone said RW plus Big Ben... was thinking about BigBen when i was thinking of Fields this morn. I'd be happy with Fields. a few months back i was saying I'd ALSO be happy with ZW. seems ZW has gotten more press as the guy the Jets are going with. happy with either.
