My supervisor had a personal day scheduled for tomorrow and she retracted it so now I can't watch his pro day.... Unbelievably pissed.
Who needs a pro day when we have game tape against the almighty Texas State and Navy? Cue the angry defensive responses. In all honesty I don't put a lot of stock into these pro days for any player. On air, no pads, scripted and most speed times are a bit more elevated than they would be at the combine. I think pro days can only hurt a player in my eyes rather than hurt it. But I also don't work for a team and get to stand on the sidelines (i.e. teams value them to an extent - see; Bottles, Blake).
Perfect All those who hate Wilson as a pick can get a head start and begin writing a “ Pro day performance with a one on one means nothing” if he is lights out. But if he has a bad day you can really have a field day.
Let the games begin! Streaming on NFL Network today. Coverage begins at 12pm EST and I believe he starts at 1pm EST. Not completely sold on Wilson and the teams he played in college, but very interested in his pro day and to see him out there.
LOL good luck with the vaccine! I got my first dose of Moderna a couple weeks ago. Second shot is on April 12th
JV I had an off day during Darnold’s pro day and watched the whole thing. It was a beauty. He ended up not working for us. So basically you are right.
Not that I'm completely against drafting Wilson, but I'll be interested in seeing the leash he is given by people who torched Darnold up one side and down the other for not playing well with bad coaching and a poor supporting cast if Wilson does some of the same things with better coaching and a better cast.
I suspect there will be a honeymoon period. And even as someone who would prefer to stay with Darnold and actually get some good players for the team I would say that is appropriate for any QB just starting out. Even the greatest ones ever usually have a tough go at the beginning.
Yeah, I'm not really talking right out of the gate, more like season 3 (assuming they do the inadvisable and start him week 1).
If he does well, and other GMs like what they see, the Jets are going to have a tough choice to make. I’m sure they will get a couple of really great offers from another team to move up to the second spot for Wilson, or they can keep the second pick and draft Wilson. I know how other posters feel about a FQB, I feel the same, but the thought of getting another pick in second and third round this year and possibly another first next year as well. That’s a lot of talent that can be added to the Jets roster.
