I was reading up on the issues in Atlanta, and came across this from CCN-SI: Linebacker John Abraham -- who has played six games this season after being acquired with a first-round pick -- is a monster when he's healthy. But the $45 million question -- the value of his six-year deal -- is whether he'll play enough to make an impact. Abraham, who had a pin placed in his left thumb last week, has missed more than a third of the games in his seven-year career. Six games, 1/3 or the season....typical JAbe. Glad he's gone and love our new rookie center!
There's absolutely no way that this trade can be characterized in any other way than the Atlanta Falcons getting totally hosed.
His thumb? Does that hinder the great speed rusher too? I'll admit I was wrong, I wanted to keep him after last year. Good thing I'm not in charge.
Abraham is such a loser. The thing that put it over the top for me was when Herm asked him to "give it a try" in that playoff game and he refused. Not even one down... no way. What was even crazier was Herm putting up with that horseshit.
right on. Remember mawae playing with a cast. Lineman play with a cast on their hands all the time. Abraham is just worried about getting the money and that's it. I am so glad he is gone.
I should clarify. It's not that Herm "put up with" Abraham's horseshit when Abe refused to at least give it a try, because, Lord knows, perhaps he really couldn't do it. But Herm was guilty of contributing to the cultivation of a mindset in which his favorite inmates basically ran the asylum and did as they pleased. Ty Law was another good example.
When Ty Law and John Abraham are the bright spots of your season, you probably went 4-12. Law has his own penalty named after him for shits sake.
Oh I remember Herm's press conference after that last Buffalo game. "Hey Ty Law had 10 picks this season... thats alot!!!!" Nevermind half those picks were deflections... I'm so glad they're both gonna be watching the playoffs from home... they truly deserve each other
Man I forgot about that gem... Let's see, Herm or Leon Washington, Leon or Herm???? Hmmmmmmmm... who got the better deal... hmmmmmmmmmmm
Hey remember not only Mawae but one of the LB's for GB a few weeks ago, playing with what looked like the world's biggest Q-tip attached to his arm.... There's a difference between can't play and won't play.
As they should. They gave up a first round pick which landed us Mangold, arguably the better of our 2 O-linemen thus far, and sure to be a pro-bowler for years to come in the very near future. In exchange they received a me-first, oft-injured, "flashes of greatness" player in Abraham. Someone call the Falcon's GM and ask him if his ass still hurts!
