What did TM say? I don't understand why you mention him. I haven't seen him mentioned previously or anything he said about Sam.
When Malah started going in on Kipur el-Amel about 15 minutes in, I actually had to rewind it. Merciless stuff.
Holy shit, Goff and 2 first rounders for Stafford.... are you kidding me? Yeah walk away from Watson. His price will be absolutely future killer
to be fair they are two future firsts which are way less in value than firsts this year. Plus Detroit took on a huge awful contract from Goff which can also explain the high cost. But not great for us.
It's not as crazy as it looks in terms of influencing a Watson deal. The Rams have no pick this year, so they're not even able to give present year value in this deal. I believe the value of a 1st in trade evaluations is roughly half when it's a year out. Whatever it is, it's greatly reduced from a present year 1st. They would have been picking 25th this year. My first reaction is that, in terms of the two 1st round picks, this is actually less value than the Jets got for Jamal. At the very most it's equal. EDIT: To put it in perspective, if the Rams tried to trade that package for this year's #2 pick, Douglas would laugh and hang up.
To me the worst part of this deal for us is the fact that Detroit isn’t a trade target with the 2nd pick anymore should we not get Watson.
Its not bad news overall. Takes both Geoff and Stafford off the market. Kinda does remove Detroit as a trade down partner though. Still plenty of QB hungry teams for Darnold or the #2.
Guys, relax. The reason Stafford went for 2 firsts is because of how bad Goff’s contract is. If you remove Goff from the trade you remove another 1st. Essentially the trade was for a 1st + 3rd for Stafford.
It's not as bad as it looks. The Rams had to give up 2022 and 2023 first rounders; the #2 pick in this year's draft is worth more than those. Plus the Rams made the Lions take Goff's contract, which the Lions didn't want, so the Lions got an extra first rounder for that. The deal was essentially Stafford for a 2022 first and 2021 third. If that's what Stafford is worth, Watson could still be worth the #2 pick plus two more first rounders.
