I wish Bill O'Brien was still running things there. Then the Jets could get Watson and a 3rd Round pick for Darnold and a 2nd Round pick.

Gotta be honest, I don't like Becton doing this while Sam's still on the team. Everyone knows I want Darnold gone but this is pretty inconsiderate by Becton.

Offer them: #2, our second rounder this year (which is basically a first rounder) and our 2022 first rounder next year. That is it. There is no way Houston will accept Tua after his mediocre first year and the report that some Miami players were unhappy that Tua was given the starting job.

I'm not really sold that he'd be the long term solution that a lot of people believe. I think there's a chance that he can be, but the Jets always find a way to Jets things up so if he's only with the team for a few years then we'll have a few years of exciting football until they go back in the can.

But there is a chance, I can admit that, where they figure things out financially and the escalating cap limit does what we hope it will. All the while smartly building the team with the draft currency they have left. I just hope Saleh and Co have enough smoke and mirrors to disguise weaknesses until they're able to do so because if they trade for Watson and then miss the playoffs for the next 2 seasons, I'll be shocked if his eyes don't start wandering to other teams.

Joe: "Hey Sam, some news...we have traded you away to another team because we acquired All Pro, future hall of famer, Deshaun Watson. Wishing you the best in your future successes."

    Sam: "I...I understand."

Even Sam I bet probably will get it, you cannot compare to Watson yet because your results haven't even proven the argument to be on your side.

I don't doubt Sam would understand why we'd prefer Watson over him but I don't think that justifies openly campaigning for your teammate to be replaced.

Seriously. We might have been able to get him for a couple of Nerf footballs and a sixth-rounder.

I guess Texans will just have to hire Bienemy, and Watson stays - he was the original preference even before Saleh.

If he didn't injure his shoulder we could have had 2008. We were actually betting favorites to win AFC at some point when we were on the roll before he got injured. Jets luck.

Wow this story has really pick up steam.. I think we should wait on Houston to call us.. after all we hold the cards.. I was listening to Adam Schaffner Friday on XM and sounds like there relationship with Watson is really bad maybe unrepairable ... so much can happen between now and draft day... not gonna hold my breath thinking Watson coming...one thing for sure... Don’t call Houston!! Make them come to us!!! #2 pick our early second round and next year’s #1 should be the starting point ..... let Watson put pressure on Houston management to make a deal...we hold the cards!! At #2 maybe missing out on TL was a blessing in disguise so many options,Fields? Wilson? Stick with Sam And cumulate more pics?Or a 25-year-old proven quarterback in Watson? So many options...For the first time since Parcells was here I think we’re heading in the right direction with JD and RS making the decisions

I also think Jets will end up with FQB next year, whether it is Fields, Wilson, or Watson, and we will be OK either way. However, I am not sure if Fields/Wilson will be as good as Watson. This is a VERY high bar. The guy is in the Pro Bowl every year he played (aside from when he missed half a season due to injury in rookie year). That's 3 Pro Bowls in last 3 years, already led entire NFL in passing yards, and he is 25. So, as optimistic as I am about a QB in the draft, this bar will be almost impossible to clear. I am not so sure that Watson is not poster child for NFL instead of Mahomes if he ended up on the Chiefs. Heck, maybe he still will be a face of NFL if Jets get him and do things right. How cool would that be?

This is wild to me. Poor Sam.

That said, if this Herald report is true, Jets must do what it takes.

The Jets just need Watson to alienate himself from the fan base now like Adam did.
