...........would you'd be happy with the season if we lost to the Raiders this Sunday and missed the playoffs? Even after winning as many games as we did? I wouldn't. Just one loss this important at home to a team this bad would almost completely erase the season for me.
"Happy with the season" is a complex phrase. If the Jets lose I won't lose sight of the many positives that have come from this season (especially the performance of the rookies - Brick, Mangold, Washington, Brad Smith, Mangini, Schottenheimer, Tannenbaum), but it would be a tremendous disappointment to lose at home to a dispirited team playing out the string 3000 miles from home on New Year's Eve day when a win would get the Jets into the playoffs.
eh if that happens I would be upset. I doubt this team is beating 3 other AFC teams on the road and we have so much to be happy with going forward. Guys like Brick, Mangold, Leon, Houston, Cotch, Smith, Thomas, Hobson, D-Rob, Rhodes, Erik Smith. Should be fun watching these guys just develop with these coaches.
A loss to the Raiders would be devestating.. Chad would take the fall based on the comments on forum and media.. But the jets will be even better next yr win or lose.
If we win Sunday and lose by 30 in the first round, I'll accept it. The fact that we've clinched a winning record is amazing enough to me.
I made a comment to someone in my family yesterday early in the day, that i was reminded of today. I said i don't care,i'd rather sweep the fish and miss the POs than lose on Xmas and get in with a win over the Raiders and someone elses loss. Looking at it now,i still would want that, but if we do lose Sunday and miss the POs,that would be the biggest SOJ move ever!
We did WAAAAAAAY more than I thought we would prior to the season. We'll beat the Faiders ( and those idiot Holloween-looking fans ) and get killed in the play-offs .......... but just wait and see how much better we'l be next season!!!!
If we get in and get the Colts,i'm not so sure we get killed,i actually like our chances if we get that game. We're 6-2 on the road,Chad is awesome indoors.the Colts are worse(especially on Defense)and we're better than we were at the point we last played them.
IF the Jets were to lose to the Raiders and still make the playoffs, the 12/31 game wouldn't bother me too much except for the fact I won't be able to create my upcoming Raiderjoe thread. IF the Jets were to lose to the 2-13 dead ass Raiders and miss the playoffs, it would be the most disgusting feeling I've ever had as a Jets fan. Worse than the Testaverde injury in Week 1 of 1999 and the subsequent losses to New England and Buffalo. Worse than the 12-2-01 Field Goal Edwards/Hackett Special, which really jump-started the Patriots dynasty. Worse than the entire 2005 season. Worse than the Pennington injury in August 2003. Worse than the fake spike game. Worse than the Kotite era. Worse than the Carroll era (never should have been hired as head coach). Worse than when Belichick resigned as HC of the NYJ. Worse than the playoff losses in 1985 and 1986. Worse than the Lions game in 2000. Worse than the no-show in the season finale in 1993 when a playoff spot was on the line. I've made my point.
ehhhh if we lose this weekend to the raiders it would just get ugly in the media and other teams would have garbage to talk about us. Please whatever we do don't lose. I feel as if a lot of teams envy us being that everybody's excuse for our record is our weak schedule. A loss like this would just support them.
Not a chance in hell, loss to the raiders would be the ultimate failure and would allow the "same old jets" phrase to live on.
I'd be upset. Once they get in the playoffs it's all gravy, but they need to beat the 2-13 team at home or they've cast a pall over their otherwise very significant accomplishments this season. Nothing they do on Sunday will prevent me from feeling like the Jets have added their coach of the next ten years though.
I would not be happy at all. There is no excuse to lose to the Raiders. That team is so pathetic fans don't even know when to admit they suck so bad.
Oh my God, no. There's no conceivable reason for the Jets to lose against the Marin County Girl's Athletic Club this Sunday.
The jury is still out on this season and nothing is complete until we have either achieved a 10-6 season and made the playoffs or maybe even slipped in with our 9-7 record. So, yes, to eliminate that whole "same old Jets" saying, obviously a let down game vs the Oakland Raiders absolutely cannot happen.
