It's not homerism to be happy about winning last night and it's not intelligently discussing football to bitch about plays that "might have" happened or to point to a few incomplete meaningless passes as a sign of impending doom to come for Chad and/or the Jets season. Personally, I don't care if you are enjoying the season or not...I just feel sorry for you because you may never be happy.

We all enjoyed the win. Your attempting to whitewash how bad Pennington played outside of a couple throws last night is what makes you a homer.

As long as he wins. Or is there something more important then that?

It's almost like some folks absolutely HAVE to have something to bitch about no matter what!

For Crying out loud, the guy Won last night in the pouring rain. Let it go already and this is from someone that isn't a Chad guy by any stretch..

    Gee Freakin Whiz!!!

For the record, he called me 6 first. And as far as I am concerned, I question 3rdanddraw because almost every post he creates is negative. He very rarely posts anything positive about the Jets. How can you not question his agenda here at the website created for Jet Fans?

He won this week, barely outdueling Cleo Lemon. In all likelyhood the Jets are now going to be in the postseason and the kind of QB play we've been seeing from Pennington most of the year is simply not going to cut it.

On the offensive side of the ball, where do the Jets need the most improvement? I'd say RB #1 and QB #2 in terms of the talent they currently have but since QB is the most important position on the field that gets bumped up to the first priority. Chad isn't going to get better.

Bury your heads then...If all you can do is whine about plays that didn't happen but could've then your points are not worth discussing anyway. There are a number of things fans can discuss that are negative and needs improving (like run blocking for one) but to bitch about Chad for plays that he almost made after one of his guttiest games of the season (in one of the Jets most important games) is just downright "darksider" whining...Nobody wants to read about Chad's limitations (Lord knows we heard about it all night from Kornheiser and Theismann). Any real Jets' fans knows he doesn't have "zip" on his throws at times but the bottom line is that he still finds a way to win (more often than not). To complain about some incomplete passes after he throws a perfect throw to Cotchery in the 4th quarter and then the Jets win is just being silly...Come on now...You can't see that???

It's not almost like, it IS just that!

Just look at the negative connotation of some screenames (like 3rd and 15 draw). Tells you all you need to know about a person. Is it a surprise 99% of posts from people with screen names like that are negative?

Don't you think to be a SB team or least a serious contender he's going to have to beat those Ds at some point? We could go on forever with 9-10 wins a year and see a game or two in the playoffs, but eventually I would like to see a trophey. Will that suffice for an answer?

I agree that last night's kind of game would not be a QB's best friend. However I was a little dissapointed with some of the things Chad was unable to do. When we needed a drive though he put the ball in the right place and as long as we win that's all that matters.

Chad Pennington doesn't need anybody to defend him. His accomplishments speak for themselves.

The day will come when his skills have run their course and he can be counted out. That day has not yet arrived.

Chad doesn't need to improve, but he will because that's his nature.

Once the defense can stop the run and the offense can run the ball consistently, the Jets will go far in the postseason. Those are the improvements this team needs.

That just makes too much sense, huh?

Run blocking, lack of a #1 RB, a Dl that can get pressure on their own, Vilma maturing in the 3-4......

Nope, criticizing Chad's performance is "discussing" football.

You're a funny guy. You start an inflammatory post inviting people with negative opinions to respond to it and then when they do you act like the arbiter of Jets fandom and bash the posters.

Chad should get some credit for those 2-3 passes that turn into long gains. He is apparently calling a lot of plays the way he audibles and moves the players around. He must see something in the defense that will allow the short pass to turn into a long gain. Testaverde and Glenn Foley had very strong arms but there is a lot more to being a good QB than just having a strong arm. Besides, he is coming back from two shoulder surgeries and his shoulder may not still be 100%.

Cmon. you know that is comparing apples to oranges.

He barely outdueled the Miami DEFENSE, in MIAMI which IIRC, hung a horsecollar on the Pats 2 weeks prior.

(And gave up 3 scores on the road at Buffalo last week. But you get my point...)
