    Studs

Gase - yup have to give it to him. He's still awful and should be fired but the team hasn't quit on him and he called a good game. the play of crowder to berrios was awesome to see. it's actually a play out of the browns playbook. He got herndon involved in the pass game and he responded. He also got perine some more touches and a more even split with gore.

Crowder - definitely the MVP of the game. 9 targets, 7 catches for 92 yards and threw a 40+ yard TD to berrios and the throw was perfect in stride.

Darnold - wasn't perfect but he was efficient against a good defense. 0 turnovers was huge and the difference in the game. threw 2 TDs too

Herdon/berrios - both caught all their targets and each caught a TD.

Run D - completly stuffed the browns run game. darnold had more rushing yards in the 1st half then the browns did as a team. also stuffed the QB sneak on 4th and 1 to end the game. They ended with 45 yards total on 18 attempts

Basham/JFM/Shepard/Luvu - our defense was flying around. it helped that baker looked awful. basham forced 2 fumbles. JFM was getting pressure all day and recovered a fumble. luvu forced a fumble. all 4 had sacks

    Duds

Ficken - had a blocked FG and XP. both kicks were really low for some reason. he also shanked the kickoff at the end of the game to start them on the 40.

Refs - that RTP call on foley was a joke. he pulled up and barely chest bumped him with his arms out. they were trying to help the browns all game

Not many duds. we played a good all around game and for 2 weeks in a row beat playoff bound teams. the plus side is we are probably better off for next year then we'd like to think.

It's sobering to see how low our standards for Darnold are that a 16/32 175 yard 2 TD game is impressive to some of us.

What bothers me is , how many receptions Mims & Perryman had. Darnold played a total controlled offense no chances ....that could be Gase play calling.

Tremendous observation but I put that on Sam and it worries me.

Some on Sam, but Perriman dropped a couple of long ones in the basket.

Thank you for doing this, excellent as always. I gave them an A for full out effort, playing all out defensively and at times offensively. I wouldn’t call Sam a stud nor a dud. He did enough to keep us in the game and he was more creative and efficient when the pocket collapsed. The long ball was weak, be it because of Sam’s timing and/or Perriman dropping some good passes.
OL continues to jell, D is much more solid that I expected. Offensive game plan way too conservative, running plays way too predictable. Refs got an F.
Moving forward to 2021, Sam’s performance will not merit a starting position, we need more than a game manager with no quick strike capability at the helm. BUT, Above all we need a much more aggressive and creative game plan that leverages our QB strength (TBD)

Sam had 2 dropped INTs, took his weekly 2-3 yard sack running it out of bounds instead of throwing it away and then the one time you want him to take a sack, he throws it away and the Browns keep their timeout. He dink and dunked the entire game and his biggest passes came on busted coverages. He faced a depleted Browns D that is terrible as well. I’m not sure I would personally grade him as a dud but a stud for a Qb that completed 50% of his passes and not even 200 yards with the offense entirely healthy seems a little farfetched imo.

Only criticism I have is calling the Browns defense "good." They're the 16th ranked overall defense and 19th ranked pass defense. They were also missing their two starting linebackers and lost Takitaki midway through the game.

Decent enough defense though I suppose. League average would be more appropriate.

Love the Defense now that Gregg Williams is gone. Only b/c Gregg would blitz ALL THE TIME (highest % in the league I think) and too many times our DBs got burned with no Safety help (ya, Raiders).

But now we aren't blitzing all that much and still getting good pressure, saving our Safteys for helping out downfield. I was pleasantly surprised how good our front 7 did w/o Quinnen. I know if we had him, our front 7 would be even MORE dominating. Good to see we aren't a 'one man defense'.

If JoeD can score us a good OLB pass rusher and a #1 DB (and keep Maye) we'll be looking pretty good. Actually, I want to see the DBs we already have all healthy with a full year's experience under their belts. I wouldn't turn down a #1 DB, but it may not be 'crucial' as it looked a few months ago.

Thanks Gase&Confused for the write up! Have you come up with a new name yet? You only have a few days left!!!

The refs definitely get a dud for blowing the Sam fumble returned for a TD. This is two games in a row the refs have cost us a loss.

The other huge dud was the Browns receivers all getting themselves on the Covid list right before playing us.

What a horrible season to then blow these last two games. It is way to Jet like.

Add Perriman to the duds list, just awful! I see why Miami let him go. Also I don't like to add rookies to the duds list but Mims was a no-show last Sunday. He missed a catchable ball that would have given the Jets a badly needed first down and put them in the red zone. I think the Jets were forced to punt after that. Granted it was a tough catch against an all-pro DB but Mims came into the league bragging how he should have been a first rounder and can go up against any DB one on one. Well, he didn't.

I was frustrated that he just couldn't will the team to one or two big third-down conversions in the fourth quarter that would have put the game away. He just never seems to step up in a big spot. Maybe it's the play-calling, but a lot of it has to be on him.

it's in the game script. when he did throw downfield they were good to. perriman just sucks. the throw to mims deep was nice but the CB made a great play. stats are nice but they are dependent on others. sam passed the eye test even though the stats weren't great.

it wasn't a fumble. the arm was moving forward. it was called correctly.

yeah i probably should have but I just expect him to be a dud all the time (perriman).
for mims He was locked on an all pro CB all game. ward played great. other WRs needed to step up.

The ball was already put when the arm started moving forward. It was a clear fumble and should have been a TD. Two weeks in a row the Refs hosed us out of a loss. With that and all the Browns recievers out and no reschedule it is almost like the NFL was doing their best to make sure we did not get TL.

A QB having no turnovers is a win to many of us lol.

Another reason why we all have a soft spot for Chad Pennington. The dink and dunk master who was so good at protecting the ball

I would add Gase to the Duds, although this week and last week he was LESS of a Dud than usual. Still, using Gore so much when clearly better RBs are available, and another conservative game plan when the season has been over for weeks, and the fact that in yet another second half vanishing act the offense petered out. Yes, the razzle dazzle play was a welcome change, but not enough to offset the rest of his play calling. Lets' not get sentimentally charitable just because you're convinced he's going to be fired.
