As it goes with JD.. my take it all depends on the coach. I like JD and if a guy like Pederson falls in our lap because he wants to build a team with JD well then I’m all for it! However, if we can land a guy like Lincoln Riley and he wants to shop for the groceries and make JD a glorified scout then so be it.
I'm more impressed with how lights out jefferson has been TBH and that trade The vikes traded diggs and made cap room and got rid of a player who didn't want to be there and replaced him with a WR just as good on a rookie contract with that pick plus got an extra 4th and 5th and moved up from the 7th to the 6th
Yes, I noticed when I read back up the thread I'm gonna pretend great minds think alike and all that now
The eyes did not lie in this case w Mims. All the WRs from that loaded class showed up & went head to head at the combine. Now the combine is far from everything but it is a competition & at a spot like WR in a stacked class,it matters. Forget the numbers where he also fared well,Mims was the most impressive athlete in everyone of the drills. He was easily the alpha of the group.Big,fast, smooth w hops. It was eerily similar to what OBJ did in 2014.
Yeah I think that's what I've been most impressed with as far as Mims in the NFL so far. He looks smooth and fluid. He dominated in the Big 12 because of his athleticism but I wasn't sold on it translating into route running and moving in and out of breaks clean. He's proved me wrong so far.
I'm not as impressed with mims yet. the injuries and he doens't get seperation which is what i seen of him on film. He is great at winning jump balls and making catches in traffic. reminds me a bit of a smaller plaxico buress then he does OBJ. OBJ is a completly different type of WR. he's a route runner a slant guy who can take it to the house. mims can't do that. I do think mims will be a solid starer in the NFL though and i'm happy to have him.
Dude, I'm sorry, but you have no clue what you're talking about. Mims can't take it to the house? ROFLMAO! You need to go watch video of Mims at Baylor.
He has nothing in common w OBJ.Totally different style receivers. Im merely drawing paralells to the way they stood out at the combine in a saturated talent pool. I look at the fact hes not separating yet still playing fast & making big plays as almost a GOOD thing. Hes very smooth in all his movements..sure more of an X than a z pivot type..but once he refines his route running to go along w the rest of his skillset he’ll be separating much more frequently not that he even needs to make big plays,as hes shown.
Flacco nor Darnold have trusted Mims to make a play yet as much as I feel they should. Teams are pressing these WR's at the line and now you have 3 guys who can beat you in different ways...Crowder has the shiftiness in the slot to get off the line, Mims has the physical traits to go up and get contested balls, and Perriman is a burner/long strider who will beat you deep. I just want to see moreso these QB's giving the WR's the chance to make a play. Sometimes they won't be schemed open, it's gonna say, "Hey I trust my guy will beat your guy when I throw this ball."
availability is his biggest issue, he has only played in 6 of what will have been 13 games after this weekend. he has been banged up during at least 2 of the games i have watched and hasnt proven he can stay on the field yet. great potential, but the most important ability is availability.
Maybe you should ask Minnesota if they think Justin Jefferson is a difference-maker (drafted 22nd last year), or the Ravens if they like Patrick Queen (drafted 28th), or even the Chiefs if they like CEH (drafted 32nd) as their RB for the future? You can definitely find great starters at the end of the 1st round and to act like there's no way Seattle's 1sts could provide us with 2 more foundational pieces is ridiculous. JD is going to have to hit on those picks but if he does, they'll definitely provide more value for us than Jamal did/would have at 15-20+M per year.
Have we mentioned Bryce Huff in this thread yet? He wasn't drafted, but he's a rookie and he's had some really nice games. Not sure he'll ever be a stud pass rusher but he can very clearly be a pass rusher in this league. That's just about as high of a compliment as you can give any pass rusher we've had since John Abraham.
on a 5 yard slant? no he can't. not in the NFL. I watched all the film on him when we drafted him and so far he's played exactly how i said he would.
you mean bryce huff? I haven't seen him stand out personally at all but PFF has ranked him as the highest pressure rate of all rookies.
thanks i like the reference to a left handed football team. Mentioned this like a week back. Tuna did this with Jumbo Elliott there are a lot of reasons to do this, including the impact it has on the edge rusher
