Watch it again, Zach Thomas lowered his helmet and led with his head. I didn't have a problem with the one on Leon as much as watching Thomas clearly lead with his helmet.
To me when a Defensive player is squared up regardless if the heads hit it's solid football. A spear on the other hand is a head lead. In my opinion, Zach Thomas was squared up. The head to head rule is nonsense and has become a judegement call which is terrible for the game. A spear is not the same thing at all.
It's football, my friend. The hits weren't dirty, and neither hit were the players head hunting. Coles had the ball, nearly secured and Thomas went to knock it lose. Blame Pennington on the Washington throw. That was horrid.
I think the hit on Coles might have been dirty, but I didnt get a good look on it. Especially after later on it was said he had a laceration on his chin, so that leads me to believe he must have been hit with zach thomas' helmet in the mouth. AY we won, jayson taylor got his, damn it feels good to be a gangster.
